**What are we looking for?**

Previous experience
- 10 years of experience in project finance, loan syndications, or debt advisory (particularly project finance and acquisition finance) with a focus on renewables/energy, digital infrastructure and clean tech.

Languages and technical knowledge
- Fluency in English (oral and written).
- Proficiency in Spanish and other European languages would be a plus.

Soft skills
- Interpersonal skills with ability to work directly with clients and also being able to supervise and mentor junior internal resources.
- Team player but also comfortable working independently with limited supervision when needed.
- Multi-tasker and able to work under time pressure.
- Strong communication skills, should be able to represent BBVA’s Loan Syndicate in internal and external forums/events.

**Overview**
- Contribute to BBVA’s efforts in EMEA from the perspective of loan underwriting of PF/Infrastructure, Corporate and Leveraged transactions reporting to the Madrid Head of Loan Syndicate, Sales & Trading (“LSST”).
- Work closely with EMEA based origination teams to identify innovative Originate-to-Distribute opportunities and to assess distribution channels (e.g. bank, NBFIs, insurance).
- Prepare Loan Underwriting Assessments and represent the transaction at underwriting and commercial committees.
- Develop and maintain relevant comparable databases and internal tools.
- Collaborate with loan sales & trading to identify and develop relationships with investors, perform market soundings to structure/price transactions to clear the market.

Key Responsibilities:
Syndicate responsibilities
- Participate in pipeline calls with origination teams to identify underwriting opportunities.
- Provide market updates to origination and coverage teams.
- Attend meetings with clients, pitch BBVA’s underwriting capacities and provide clients with an informed view on loan market liquidity, pricing and trends.
- Review due diligence of transactions and highlight key risks/mitigating features.
- Liaise with risk teams in a timely manner on key transactions and present to the Loan Underwriting Committee.
- Represent transactions at the New Business Committee (“NBC”)in either written or oral format.
- In collaboration with the sales team, develop and manage relationships with key investors.
- Remain on the leading edge of all new developments in the infrastructure/project finance space (e.g. country risks, ECAs, sector developments, market appetite for specific sectors and merchant risk, new structuring techniques, pricing/tenors).

Execution
- Managing the syndication of transactions.
- Overseeing the preparation of syndication/market materials and investor meetings in conjunction with origination teams.
- Preparing market-directed press releases for individual transactions as applicable.
- Defining the list of investors(and Non-Payment Insurance as appropriate)in the syndication process with Sales.
- Preparing syndication status updates for internal and client purposes and elaborate allocation proposals.
- Monitoring and reporting of underwriting positions including progress of sell-down and profitability.
- Preparing closing memos for internal distribution.
- Conducting post-mortems/lessons learned meetings with teams to improve processes and share market feedback.

General
- Supervision, training and mentoring of junior specialists and internsas appropriate.
- Fostering cross-selling of CIB products.
- Overseeing and contributing in internal and external administrative tasks.
- Contribute to the team’s regular market reports focusing on loan market’s pricing and liquidity conditions and latest developments.
