**The Opportunity**:

The Senior Director, Engineering is responsible for our Madrid engineering teams, ensuring they work effectively as a unified group. As one of two engineering hubs, alongside Dublin, the Madrid office plays a pivotal role in our global strategy. We are seeking a senior leader to spearhead critical product development initiatives while serving as a key member of the Engineering leadership team at ESW.
In this role, you will be responsible for shaping and executing the engineering strategy. You will mentor and develop future leaders, foster high-performing engineering teams, and continuously elevate delivery and quality standards through a culture of ongoing improvement.
**Responsibilities**:
- Lead the establishment and growth of the Madrid technology hub, ensure the team has best in class technical talent to innovate and solve challenging business problems.
- Provide leadership to multiple engineering teams in Madrid, setting clear goals and priorities to deliver scalable and innovative solutions.
- Build, mentor, and inspire a high-performing, cohesive team of technology professionals, with a focus on Lean and Agile methodologies.
- Foster career growth and strong team culture.
- Set and oversee high level technical strategy to ensure our system scales.
- Facilitate effective communication and collaboration across functions to ensure cohesive planning, prioritization, and execution of projects.
- Act as a key member of the global technology leadership team, contributing to company-wide technology initiatives.
- Define and oversee the technical direction for the Madrid hub, ensuring that the architecture and solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with our roadmap.
**Requirements**:
- Proven leader that has delivered highly scalable, mission critical, real time solutions in a fast paced agile environment.
- You think strategically and understand how to weigh the pros and cons of different solutions and prioritise them relative to other.
- Knowledge of our technology stack (e.g.,.NET Core, Microservices, NoSQL, Azure).
- Experience in e-commerce, Logistics or payments is an advantage.
- A proven mentor and developer of engineering talent, with a strong track record of fostering career growth and building high-performing teams.
- Experience working in a global, cross-functional environment, ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
- Intellectual curiosity, learning agility, and passion for tackling challenges.
- You love mentoring and developing engineering staff and have a proven track record of doing so.
- Outstanding communication skills required - primarily the ability to communicate ideas.
