.Senior Director of Software Engineering is a hands-on technology leader responsible for general oversight of software development of a highly complex enterprise-class commercial software platform in the regulated area of Life Sciences.He/She manages a globally distributed software development team with a total headcount of 65+ engineers. He/She directly manages 3-4 Software Engineering Directors. This position reports to the Senior Vice President of Product Development and Strategy.Senior Director of Software Engineering works with product development leaders, product PMO and QA, business analytics, and architecture management to maintain the speed and quality of software engineering. He/She needs to meet the challenge of building competitive software products while ensuring the quality and support of the existing clients.One of the responsibilities and challenges for the Senior Director of Software Engineering is to establish a people management culture, processes, and controls in the remote multi-time zone environment that will allow for higher retention and better training, including both cross-application product training and technology training.Senior Director of Software Engineering must be a strong and experienced technical leader to evaluate and approve product development resources and timelines across several concurrent projects. He/She will have a responsibility to deliver software functionality on time within the current Agile development methodology, or to improve/change the methodology to maximize results.Hard Skills10+ years of hands-on experience in complex software product developmentExcellent knowledge and practical experience with modern architectures web-based, distributed, transactional systems, microservices, and cloud computing (AWS preferred).BS/BA in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a relevant field.Practical knowledge of the technologies used in the product (Java, Node.JS, Angular, MY SQL, PostgreSQL, and various AWS software services).Soft SkillsA proven track record in enterprise product development and in building large and scalable commercial software products.A proactive go-getter attitude.A creative thinker, problem solver, and an inspiring mentor.A business and technical leader who suggests a solution every time he/she reports a problem.A strong troubleshooter of product issues.Verifiable outstanding communication and presentation abilities in English (both verbal and written).Be able to operate in early or late hours when needed.We strongly prohibit toxicity or bullying of any team members or colleagues.Managerial Skills8+ years of proven managerial experience with distributed outsourced teams (must have led teams of at least 20 engineers) and successful cases of team development and talent retention.Vision.
