**About the role**

Sustainable, FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable & Reusable) data is the lifeblood of AstraZeneca as a science-led, pure-play pharmaceutical company and critical for the delivery of the AstraZeneca corporate strategy, in which _Data, AI and Digital_ is a foundational value driver for Innovative Science and a potential corporate differentiator.

**Responsibilities**

You will join a team leading the transformation into a cloud first solution, for ingesting/exporting, storing, transforming, and managing the access to data in the AZ R&D cloud. The move out of traditional ways of working into cloud-based solutions will transform how clinical studies are run with volume of data no longer a problem for execution and storage. We'll enable a faster delivery of patient-tailored treatments and the development of Software as a Medical Device in alignment with AZ strategy and values. The cloud-based infrastructure is going into a second phase of scaling existing capabilities where you as a Product Owner will lead the technical teams that implement the change.

You will be responsible for implementation, solutions discussions, driving the roadmap balancing current and future needs and working with customers to ensure the right processes are in place. Using agile delivery methodology, you will lead the Planning Increments driving what is planned to be delivered and communicated to customers.

You will be based in Data Science and AI, which forms part of AZ R&D in the Data Office which also covers the AI, ethics, governance and use of data perspectives. You will provide strong leadership to promote the best approaches in managing infrastructure & tools needed to meet the R&D needs. This should be done in such a way that policy and privacy principles are applied throughout the lifecycle of our data and how this is implemented in our systems.

**About you**

We are seeking someone who can define and articulate a vision for products delivered and implemented for the Therapy Areas cross R&D. Work is done in close collaboration with RD and Enterprise IT groups, Data Science and AI and the wider R&D organisation.

**Essential Requirements**
- Hands-on experience from Agile development, preferably in a business context.
- Experience of pharma and the life sciences
- Experience of senior data leadership
- Experience of running project in a GxP regulated environment
- Track record of significant strategic data project delivery with demonstration of clear scientific and/or operational value
- Excellent communication skills and ability to build strong positive relationships
- Conflict resolution: succeeding in situations where a high degree of business insight, influencing and tact are required to find a way forward
- Ability to work across global & functional boundaries
- Travel - willingness and ability to travel domestically & internationally.
- Resilience - ability to overcome challenges and empower others in the face of a changing environment
