**About the role**

The Compliance Officer will report to the Compliance Director of HCFX SIM and act as the senior expert in Compliance and AML within the Spanish Branch Office. They will also support the global expansion of HCFX. The role will be based in Madrid.

**Key responsibilities**:
As a Compliance Officer, you will be responsible for:

- Overseeing the financial crime monitoring and onboarding team of the Branch
- Working with the Branch front office sales and dealing teams to provide oversight of their activities and guidance on how to onboard clients
- Performing compliance monitoring program for the Branch
- Providing guidance, advice and training to the Branch staff in relation to Compliance matters
- Assisting in internal and external audits
- Reviewing and drafting of policies and procedures relating to the Branch
- Assisting the Branch management in preparing annual and periodic reports for the Board
- Horizon scanning - making sure that all new regulatory developments that will impact the Branch business operation are identified and reported
- Acting as the Spanish Contact Point for AML with Bank of Spain

**This role is predominantly office based with the ability to work from home 1-2 days per week based on business needs.**

**Essential experience & skills**:
We want to set you up for success and we believe these experiences and skills will help you thrive in this role:

- 3+ years financial services compliance experience, in a management or senior role, preferably in investment firm sector
- ACAMS, ICA or similar equivalent qualification in AML, Compliance or a related field
- Knowledge of the ES and EU AML legislation
- Knowledge of MIFID 2, including client classification for professional clients, best execution, client disclosures
- Experience with Bank of Spain AML reporting for Financial Services firms
- A working knowledge of data protection and GDPR rules
- Fluent in writing and speaking English
- Be comfortable in a fast-paced environment, where non-routine and/or complex issues are common
- Demonstrate strong moral and ethical principles

Nice to have:

- Laws or Economic degree or legal qualification
- A desire to learn new processes and to improve processes
- An approachable nature and a willingness to at least consider all things
- A working knowledge of Risk Management
