**About The Role**

Working in a department of approximately 70 supporting the EMEA region of FTI Consulting the role reports into the EMEA Corporate Financial Controller. The individual will be responsible for internal US GAAP reporting to a US listed parent, the external statutory GAAP audit of FTI's Spanish business, and various other Spain regulatory filings including VAT, EC Sales, Corporation Tax, plus participation in audit processes across multiple EMEA countries.

The role is to be based in FTI Spain's offices in Madrid with hybrid working conditions.

**What You'll Do**

The individual will be responsible for the timely and accurate reporting of the EMEA region's financial statements covering payroll journals, accruals and prepayments, VAT reporting and bank reconciliations across multiple legal entities. A key requirement of the role is timely and accurate balance sheet reconciliations within a SOX environment. Additionally, there is extensive work on statutory audits across the EMEA region and specifically on the audit and associated regulatory filings of FTI Spain: statutory audit under Spanish GAAP (in line with the Spanish Commercial Code), VAT, EC Sales, Corporation tax.

**Monthly Accounting Close**
- Prepare and post journal entries including payroll reports from external payroll agencies
- Manage and prepare prepaid expenses and expense accrual schedules
- Prepare and post journal entries related to lease capitalisation in line with relevant accounting standards (ASC 842 / IFRS 16)
- Prepare bank reconciliations and post general ledger adjustments
- Post quarterly tax journals and coordinate with EMEA tax team
- Manage intercompany loan schedules and record monthly interest accruals
- Perform inter-company reconciliations for multiple EMEA entities
- Preparation of general ledger account reconciliations in line with SOX requirements, including monthly submission into the FTI Blackline environment
- Assist with the review and approval of journals prepared by accountants in the corporate accounting team
- Assist EMEA Finance team in the enhancement of month-end processes including month-end accounting and ensuring compliance with US GAAP
- Strict adherence with the SOX compliance process (handle SOX queries, SOX self-assessment)

**Statutory Audit Process**
- Assist with preparation and finalisation of annual statutory accounts for multiple EMEA entities
- Manage the annual FTI Spain statutory audit from audit fieldwork through to filing with the Mercantile Registry
- Direct liaison with external auditors, external payroll agency and tax advisors
- Direct liaison with internal audit team for US GAAP testing and group audit requirements
- Participation in other statutory audits of EMEA entities including Italy

**Other compliance**
- Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, annual VAT returns and EC Sales for FTI Spain coordinating with outsourced accountants/tax advisors
- Manage the Electronic VAT Reporting System (SII) processes with the external tax advisors
- Coordinate with outsourced accountants/tax advisors to deliver other local compliance requirements
- Reconciliation of VAT (VAT return to statutory accounts)
- Other duties and ad hoc support as directed by the EMEA Financial Controller and Managers
