Global Insights & Business Excellence is a strategic function, critical for enabling success in the growth of the BBU business. Our ambition is to build an industry-leading organization, empowering our Commercial teams through the generation of compelling evidence and insights, while ensuring they have the tools and skills to deliver impactful launches that change the practice of medicine for the benefit of patients. Within GIBEx, the Global Commercial Reporting and Data Excellence team is responsible for the management and governance of key commercial data assets and the creation of platforms that enable successful brand performance management by senior commercial leaders.
AstraZeneca has a need to maximize the utilization of high quality, trusted data in order to accelerate achievement of our Bold Ambition of getting 20 new medicines to patients by 2030. The Sr. Director, Commercial Reporting and Data Excellence will be leading a team of Data Product Owners and Platform Leads that develop and maintain enterprise data products and the analytics dashboards that support Global and Regional commercial teams in decision making. They will be setting a strategic vision for how critical commercial data assets (secondary market data and customer engagement data) are organised, governed and consumed by analytics platforms across the organisation. They will need to work closely with global marketing teams, global business excellence, commercial digital health, global commercial operations, global insights, analytics and forecasting and key country IBEX leads to ensure they drive data governance and platform development in alignment with AZ commecial objectives.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Lead the team that delivers analytics and reporting products supporting Global Commercial teams and senior Commercial leaders. Drive forward the strategy and vision for the data products and analytics platforms used in collaboration with senior Commercial sponsors.
- Set the vision and strategy for data products in the domains of responsibility, guided by a clear understanding of business value and customer needs, ultimately translating these needs as input into the design, build and iteration of data products.
- Identify and solve strategic issues to make the team succeed at speed.
- Champion the use of standardised analytics solutions across the organisation
- Work closely with the Commercial Data Office to advance data governance and iterate on the relevant processes
- Develop and maintain cross-functional relationships with teams in Global Commercial IT and Global Commercial Operations. Align with them on the strategic direction for data analytics in commercial.
- Understand business needs and users’ needs to shape the processes and solutions. Effectively manage prioritisation needs across different stakeholder groups.
- Ensure the continuous delivery of high-quality, scalable reporting solution to senior commercial leaders.
- Holistically manage the products’ backlog items to support the team deliver maximum outcome with minimum input in line with business priorities.
- Drive effective communication strategy for data and analytics with commercial teams above country.
- Influence key senior partners and provide clear & concise advice including recommendations to aid good decision-making.
- Provide coaching & mentoring to the team and assist with their personal development.

- Comfortable operating in a heavily matrixed organizations with excellent communication skills and intuition to manage the needs of various stakeholders.
- Solid Project and / or Product management skills, including managing vendors, budgets, timelines and risks.
- Experience leading or working on agile development teams
- Experience in delivering and successfully deploying analytical solutions in large organizations
- Excellent leadership, communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with the ability to make data-driven decisions
- Ability to rapidly grasp concepts and to manage complexity by simplifying it for others and providing clear directions to delivery teams.
