**_ Context:_**

Under the overall supervision of Chief, Infrastructure and Operations Unit and under the direct
supervision of the ICT Officer (Global Infrastructure and Operations), the ICT Officer (Network
Security Engineer) is going to be responsible for the IOMs global network. A key component of
the responsibility includes the implementation and maintenance of the Meraki suite of equipment
that is currently being purchased by missions. The network security engineer will be required to
design, build, manage the security infrastructure of IT systems that form part of the network
ecosystem inclusive of Identity and Access Management technologies.

The ICT Officer (Network Security Engineer) will play a significant role in installing hardware,
configuring the firewall, setting up virtual private networks (VPNs) and other security upgrades
as required.

As part of the role of the ICT Officer( Network Security Engineer) is required to regulary monitor

the network infrastructure and initiate projects for improvement and optimisation. Working with
the enterprise architecture team the ICT Officer (Network Security Engineer) will be responsible
for planning of network integration points for any new service brought into IOM.

As IOM migrates towards cloud services and managed services, the role will be responsible for
monitoring of the technical competence of the managed service provider personnel.

The ICT Officer (Network Security Engineer) will primarily be responsible for the network
infrastructure across all IOM offices globally. Working in the global infrastructure and operations
team the incumbent will have the following responsibilities:
**_ Core Functions / Responsibilities:_**

**Operational Responsibility**:

- Monitor the IOM wide area network with the aim of minimising downtime and optimising
- network traffic.- Troubleshoot issues with the country infrastructure teams as and when network issues arise.
- Manage the certificate lifecycle process within IOM to ensure certificates area renewed before

expiration.- Assume overall responsibility for the network infrastructure in the HQ offices, Geneva and

Valencia.- Perform Level 3 support for any escalations from missions.
- Working the the blue team the senior network security engineer will be oversee the actions

performed in response to threats across IOM infrastructure.- Review the functions of any managed service provider who may be emoployed to look after

the network.

**Planning and Organisation**:

- The Engineer is required to design, build, manage the security infrastructure of IT systems
- mainly Meraki firewalls.- The network engineer will play a significant role in installing hardware, configuring the firewall,

setting up virtual private networks (VPNs) and other security upgrades as required.- Working with the missions, ensure that any new deployments of Meraki are done on time.
- Analyse the current ASA configuration in each mission prior to migrating to Meraki and make

recommendations to optimise configuration going into Meraki infrastructure.- Review the currently deployed Meraki firewalls and make recommendations on optimisation of

the same.- Prepare, preconfiguration documents for each mission to enable the mission to perform the

pre-requisite steps prior to implementation.- Design and deploy Cisco Network Admission Control which should be deployed in the cloud

and made available to all IOM offices.- Prepare logical diagrams for all Meraki deployments and work with the field ICT officers to

ensure that the physical topology diagrams have been completed.- Document all the findings of the pilot and deployment phases, and create a plan for the self

service deployment for new missions that may onboard.- Work with NIST program to ensure that th
