Under the direct supervision of the Deputy Chief Information Officer (CIO), the Senior ICT
Officer (Governance & Application Oversight Lead) will combine technical expertise, strategic
vision, and strong collaboration skills to ensure effective Data and Application management and
compliance.

This role plays a critical role in shaping the organization's data culture, ensuring data integrity,
and maximizing the value of data assets beyond technical aspects.

This role has an appreciation of related domains and collaborates closely with the Data
Protection and Information Security departments to ensure that comprehensive and
broad-based foundations are laid and maintained for IOM's data management.

_ Core Functions / Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership, Oversight and Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Collaborate with senior leadership and align data governance initiatives with business goals,
ensuring that data practices add value to IOM's overall strategic objectives.

  • Establish the relevant processes and bodies to engage with business units, departments, and
teams to promote data governance awareness and adoption.

  • Develop and communicate a clear vision and strategy for data governance within the
organization.

  • Establish and maintain a robust enterprise data governance framework that encompasses
both technical and non-technical aspects of Data and Applications.

  • Policy Alignment: Work with the Data Protection team to align data governance policies with

  • Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs): Collaborate on DPIAs to ensure Data
Protection by Design on ICT initiatives and to assess the impact of data governance practices
on individual privacy rights.

  • Data Subject Requests (DSRs): Collaborate with stakeholders on the handling and fulfilment
of DSRs in ICT.

Institutional Collaboration - Information Security & Risk Management (ISRM):

  • Data Classification and Handling: Collaborate on classifying data based on sensitivity (public,
confidential, sensitive, etc.). Define protocols for secure data handling, storage, and
transmission.
