**What does this internship consists in?**
Together with Camilo José Cela University, Airbus has developed **an exclusive program (DISCOVER) **designed for those interested in the best training in new areas of knowledge essential to be able to develop as professionals of the future.
You will have the opportunity to study a Master, organized in three training blocks, that will allow you to **DISCOVER **the skills most in demand today. It will be combined **with an 11 month internship at Airbus **in an area related to your degree, where you can learn and complete your academic background.
The start of the internship will be in early March 2023, and will last 11 months (August disabled for all purposes). It is a full-time experience (40h/week), in which you will receive an attractive study grant.
**Your Profile**
- Recently graduates/Master students
- Studies in engineering (aerospace, telecommunications, industrial, mechanical, chemical) ,
- English: negotiation level
- Spanish: negotiation level.
- Team spirit and great collaboration skills.
- Ability to work in complex and international environments.
**Job description**:
The student will work on the development of structural topology optimization methods in the **Julia language **and/or on the analysis and design of aerodynamic devices for generation of vorticial flows using an advanced Lattice-Bolztmann method. Either of the topics (or both) can provide the content to write a Master's thesis (TFM).
Structural topology optimization is a mathematical technique which allows the synthesis of a structural component given i ts boundary conditions and the external loads acting on the structure. This method is used in industry to produce initial designs of complex components in order to provide a starting point for further refinement. In this project, the student will develop computer codes in Julia to generate concepts and integrate the solutions in the general design process for commercial aircraft, in collaboration with other members of the team and with external research partners.
Vorticial flows occur around certain geometries at high angles of attack and may provide a means to increase the maximum lift capability of a wing or tail surface. The objective of this project is to design a series of geometries which will achieve a significant increase in lift capability and control power on tail surfaces of unconventional configuration. The student will use a leading commercial CFD tool based on the Lattice-Bolztmann method and an Airbus proprietary geometry generation program.
In both cases, structural topology optimization and aerodynamic shape design, the final results will be 3D printed and will likely be tested.
