Context And Mission
The CASE department mission is to develop scientific and engineering software to efficiently exploit super-computing capabilities. The position is for the Physical and Numerical Modelling (PNM) group, focusing on advancing the meshing kernel of the wind farm simulation pipeline in our in-house solver, Alya, through mesh optimization and adaptation techniques enhanced by machine learning tools.

Key Duties

Develop Error Estimation techniques for Mesh Adaptation, optimizing accuracy and efficiency in wind farm simulations.
Implement Adaptive Mesh Refinement (AMR) in Alya using a CI/CD approach.
Advance the meshing kernel in Alya, including the simplicial adaptation framework and mesh optimization tool.
Develop an adaptive simulation framework in Alya tailored for wind farm simulations.
Contribute to the Code Documentation and Maintenance.
Contribute to the verification and validation (V&V) of simulation models within Alya.
Mentor students and contribute to their academic growth.
Work with a multidisciplinary team to validate new approaches.

Requirements

Education: PhD in Applied Mathematics
Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience:

Proficiency in Fortran 2008.
Experience in high-performance computing (HPC) and parallelization techniques.
Strong background in performance analysis and optimization.
Expertise in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).
Experience leading research projects and supervising students.

Additional Knowledge: Fluency in English; proficiency in Spanish is advantageous.
Competences: Ability to work in a team and in a multi-cultural environment.

Conditions

Full-time contract (37.5h/week).
Duration: 4 years.
23 paid vacation days.
Salary: 60.000,00 €.
Additional Expenses Grant for IT equipment, travel, training, etc.
Starting date: ASAP, before 16th December 2024.
