ALBA is a synchrotron light source facility, devoted to research in a variety of fields, including bioscience, chemistry, material science, and electronics. It is a Spanish public institution, co-financed by the Spanish Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación and the Catalan Conselleria d'Empresa i Coneixement. ALBA users come from universities, research institutes, and industry. Beyond science, ALBA is a hub for technological developments, training, and innovation. ALBA is growing in terms of new beamlines and related services, and we are searching for motivated people to join us and contribute to the strength of our facility and its future. ALBA is situated near Barcelona, a welcoming, plural, and diverse city. Open positions Title: PostDoctoral researcher position at the FaXToR beamline Division: Experiments Deadline: 01/12/2024 ALBA operates ten beamlines, complementary facilities, and an Electron Microscopy Center, currently constructing multiple more beamlines and expanding the Electron Microscopy Center. The synchrotron light produced by 3 GeV electrons is used by thousands of researchers to analyze and understand the properties and functionality of matter. As a successful candidate, you will work with a team of ALBA experts, external collaborators, and users to develop the capabilities of the LOREA instrument, a new beamline dedicated to Angle-Resolved Photo Emission Spectroscopy (ARPES). You will support users and develop your own scientific program aligned with the facility's goals. Responsibilities Provide support to the general users of BL20-LOREA as Local Contact. Develop your own scientific program aligned with the beamline's scientific program. Participate in the maintenance, commissioning, and upgrade activities of the beamline. Engage in ongoing beamline research programs, national and European projects, and collaborations. Contribute to developing the ARPES program within ALBA II, the upgrade project of ALBA to a 4th generation synchrotron. Requirements The candidate must hold a PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Material Science, or similar disciplines. This position is reserved for candidates with a legal status of disability, with a degree of disability equal to or greater than 33%. Selection Process Development The selection will be carried out through the competition-opposition system.
