About this opportunity The Sr Software Engineering Manager is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation and execution of software projects related to new features/improvements to our Invisalign product. The Sr Software Engineering Manager will be part of the Product Research & Development (PR&D) organization within Align Technology and main duties include managing two teams of highly skilled Software Engineers located in Madrid, Spain, collaborating with other managers and stakeholders in the organization to define project requirements and objectives, guiding the team in the migration of our applications to the cloud, and ensuring that those software projects are delivered on time while following our quality and regulatory standards.
In this role, you will… Manage an experienced software development team(s) geographically distributed in Madrid, Spain, with 2 remote members (Yerevan, Armenia and Toronto, Canada) working in a production environment.Play a key role and work closely with other stakeholders within and outside the organization.Together with experts, help define project requirements and objectives and ensure these are clearly communicated to the development team, oversee project execution.Lead feasibility work on innovative ideas and propose implementation plans.Provide guidance on professional development to the whole team.Organize agile development processes (demos, retrospectives, and other agile rituals), communicate progress to stakeholders, lead collaboration activities in wider project teams.Work closely with clinical board and cross-functional teams to communicate options and enable better decisions.Support preparation of patent applications.In this role, you'll need … MSc or PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Biomedical Engineering, or related studies.Proven experience (8+ years) in leading a group of talented engineers and delivering solutions in a production environment.5+ years of professional experience developing software in at least one programming language such as C++, Java, or C#.3+ years of experience in 3D software development (computational mathematics, linear algebra, analytical geometry).Experience with cloud-based solutions on Amazon technology is a plus.Strong leadership and excellent communication skills.Flexibility to travel required (up to 20%).Sound like a good fit?
