About This Role
Join our Civil Global Training Organisation as Regional Head of Regional Aviation Safety – EMEA , based in either Amsterdam (Netherlands), Madrid (Spain) or Gatwick (United Kingdom) at one of our Commercial Aviation Training (CAT) Centres.
CAE's network of training centres is global - the world's largest civil aviation training network, extending from live Flight Training Organisations to Approved Training Organisations (ATO) with full-flight simulators, including the recent notification of the integration of CAE Defence and Security safety under Civil Aviation.
A global training network requires a global centralized Safety Management System monitoring safety performance in real time, the dynamic management and tracking of risk which includes accurate data analysis guiding and shaping strategic decisions for Corporate Enterprise Risk.
The role we are offering you
The scope of the role encompasses the region of the UK, Europe, the Middle East and Africa managing aviation safety within CAE's extensive training network.
Reporting to the Head of Global Aviation Safety–Civil Division, as a subject matter expert in aviation safety your role is to support CAE's global safety initiatives including proactive operational safety assessment, monitoring safety performance indication while actively engaging in safety promotion as well as the implementation and continuous improvement of the centralized global safety management system. Importantly you will act as the EMEA regional safety focal point to the executive management and centre leaders, delivering on time and accurate safety performance guidance.
Management decision making process:
Manage and continuously improve the Global Safety Management System to minimize corporate risk, identify specific operational and training risks and ensure centralized data sharing channels are established to create usable real-time data in a standardized manner in conjunction with the Regional Heads of Quality Assurance and Compliance Monitoring and the global training centres.
Establish and manage the Safety Management System within the assigned region and mentor the Centre Safety Managers to ensure enhanced levels of safety and continuous improvement are attained through a robust system that is actively promoted and based on a Just Culture philosophy.
Safety promotion. Acting as the proactive focal point for safety communication, promotion of initiatives, demonstrating Just Culture in the workplace and with CAE's partners in the flying training organisation Joint Venture.
Our ideal candidate
Has previous experience establishing or coordinating a fully functioning ICAO compliant Safety Management System within an operational aviation organisation, preferably as an NAA designated Safety postholder.
Holds or has held an EASA recognized Flight Crew Licence to CPL or ATPL level or Instructor Certificate/Rating or holds a recognised Aviation Safety professional qualification for example an Aviation Safety Management from a recognised establishment.
Is a Qualified Safety Auditor (EASA/IATA Audit experience preferable).
Has thorough knowledge of EASA and other NAA regulations within EMEA for Safety, Quality Assurance, Training and Operations as well as their impact on CAE's Commercial customers and their operating requirements.
Must be able to analyse complex Safety, Technical and Operational data developing recommendations to mitigate the areas where active trend monitoring indicates areas of safety focus.
Competent with managing factual aviation safety investigation reporting from both a live flying and the simulator training center perspective, including evaluation of aircraft accidents/incidents/simulator events up to ICAO Annex 13 requirements inclusive and the ability to assess Human Factors and all within CAE's stated commitment to Just Culture.
