Offer Description
Mission:
Provide scientific and technical support to the development of geospatial and sociospatial research of the CAMPS project, integrating, managing and analyzing spatial data from remote sensing, geographic and statistical sources and qualitative research. The person will develop and maintain reproducible workflows for the analysis, validation, documentation, publication and dissemination of project results. He/She will ensure that all data and metadata comply with the FAIR principles.
Functions to be developed:
- Manage, structure, maintain and document the geospatial datasets produced and used by the project.
- Integrate data from institutional sources, remote sensing, OpenStreetMap, spatial databases and other quantitative and qualitative sources.
- Develop and execute geospatial and sociospatial analyses at global, settlement and case study scales.
- Support the development, validation and application of the project's spatial indicators.
- Review, validate and integrate the results produced by automated remote sensing and GeoAI workflows within the CAMPS data infrastructure.
- Develop reproducible scripts and workflows for data cleaning, transformation, analysis and visualization.
- Manage and contribute to the development of the project's spatial databases and data architecture.
- Prepare cartography, figures, analyses and datasets for scientific articles, the CAMPS atlas, reports, presentations and other research outputs.
- Document methodologies, metadata and data provenance in accordance with FAIR principles and the project's data management policies.
- Provide technical and methodological support in GIS and spatial analysis to the interdisciplinary CAMPS team.
- Contribute to methodological development and scientific publications derived from the analyses in which you participate.
- Databases, in data and metadata management, and in FAIR principles.
- Programming applied to spatial data analysis, preferably Python and/or R.
- SQL and relational and spatial databases, preferably PostgreSQL/PostGIS.
- Processing and analysis of vector and raster data.
- Automation of data cleaning, integration, validation and analysis processes.
- Management of geospatial formats and services, including GeoPackage, GeoJSON and APIs.
- Version control and workflow documentation, preferably Git/GitHub.
- Production of cartography, analytical figures and other graphic results for scientific publications.
- Ability to learn and integrate new tools and platforms within the project's technical infrastructure.
- Advanced use of QGIS and/or ArcGIS, Ability to relate geospatial analysis to social, political and territorial processes.

- Understanding the social, political and territorial dimensions of the production and interpretation of spatial data.

- Remote sensing and data derived from satellite images.
