ABOUT YOUR ROLE

Due to our consistent growth, we are seeking to expand our Data, Software and DevOps team. We are searching for a Lead Software Engineer to manage a team of 4. As team lead, you will oversee:

  1. The python scientific engine of a business use case
  2. The processes to make each individual software engineer excel at their work
KEY MISSIONS
  1. Contribute directly on the code base either individually, in pairs or more;
  2. Organize REX sessions to share the knowledge received with the rest of the team;
  3. Ensure compliance to internal standards and practices;
  4. Present the progress and goals;
  5. Contribute to the technical roadmap through architecture meetings, design documents;
  6. Lead & coach your engineer team to consistently deliver according to their roadmap;
  7. Provide expertise to help your team:
  8. Develop, optimize and update software for:
  9. Calculation of risk models;
  10. Data collection, preparation and visualization;
  11. Export of outputs adapted to users;
  12. Testing and validation of existing solutions;
  13. Monitoring of contracts and associated data.
  14. Support, test and correct the tools of:
  15. Continuous development and continuous integration (CD/CI);
  16. Data storage;
  17. Version management of scripts, codes, languages and computer systems;
  18. Modularization and containerization of IT solutions;
  19. Connection to external and internal APIs.
  20. Participate in:
  21. The assessment and definition of user needs;
  22. Modeling the risks of underlying contracts;
  23. The choice of technical solutions;
  24. Discussions with IT partners;
  25. Improving the skills of your technical staff;
  26. Managing the access and rights of users of internal tools.

ABOUT YOUEXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS[Management skills]
  1. 1 year or more of technical management experience;
  2. Handling human interactions between tech and business;
  3. Experience mentoring a team of software engineers by unblocking complex situations and sharing best practices (code reviews, pair programming);
  4. Scoping and defining tech priorities according to roadmap and maintenance;
  5. Excellent communication skills, in both formal and informal settings, and in English and French.
[Hard skills]
  1. 3 years of experience as a software engineer or data scientist;
  2. Solid knowledge in Python;
  3. Solid engineering background:
  4. Master in computer science, mathematics, physics or earth science.
  5. Experience optimizing and profiling python code;
  6. Experience in a microservices architecture;
  7. Good knowledge with Docker;
  8. Solid knowledge production development workflow (code reviews, fast forward git policy, TDD);
  9. Fluent in English and in French.
