The Challenge

We are looking for a Business Lead in Motors, who will report directly to the COO. Wallapop is currently the largest advertising platform for secondhand cars from private sellers, and the second largest overall in Spain. We want to continue the high growth from the past couple of years by further penetrating the dealer market and creating synergies within our portfolio of offerings. We also want to explore how we can innovate and increase the value of our services for sellers.

As the Business Lead for Motors you will define the general strategy to drive market penetration and revenue growth. You will manage the full Motors vertical, including all relevant categories (cars, motorcycles, auto parts and accessories), target customers (both dealers and private sellers) and sales channels (self-serve and commercial). You will also take responsibility for further developing strategic partnerships to improve our value proposition and acquire new customers. You will be responsible for coordinating all efforts and initiatives across the various functions involved, including product development, marketing, sales, and customer support. This role will operate in a cross-functional, tribe-oriented organisation, and therefore requires strong influence and collaboration skills.

What You Will Do
  1. Define our Motors strategy to improve our competitive position and become the leading classifieds platform for our Motors categories in Spain (and potentially later abroad)
  2. Drive the processes to define yearly & quarterly business objectives in collaboration with all relevant stakeholders
  3. Collaborate closely with the cross-functional team to translate strategy into operational plans that will help to achieve the set objectives and targets
  4. Take full ownership of the key objectives and results, drive execution and report proactively on progress & challenges
  5. Partner with Product, Marketing and RevOps to develop an aligned roadmap for the team
  6. Analyse & improve our current professional proposition and pricing as well as our proposition for private sellers to ensure we maintain our leading position in the market
  7. Identify, quantify & prioritise new opportunities to improve and innovate our value proposition towards buyers and sellers and drive revenue growth
  8. Create realistic business cases to drive make/partner/buy decisions
  9. Manage the full P&L of our Motors business
What We’re Looking For
  1. Knowledge of and passion for the automobile industry, in classifieds or marketplace context
  2. Bachelor or Master’s degree in business or engineering
  3. Relevant work experience in business management and/or strategic consulting in the field of classifieds and/or e-commerce
  4. Proven experience in developing and delivering business strategy
  5. Experience in managing a cross-functional team for an internet company
  6. Customer-centric mindset in everything you do
  7. Proven track record of delivering results against ambitious P&L targets
  8. Commercial and creative mindset, balancing pragmatic solutions with long-term goals
  9. Goal-oriented, self-motivated and self-directed
  10. Motivated to take full ownership and include relevant partners from start to end
  11. Fluent in Spanish and English
What Would Be A Plus
  1. Business development experience in SMB solutions
  2. Experience with agile working environment in a start- or scale-up company

Do note that all our jobs are Barcelona based. We work in a hybrid model, we offer a flexible work environment where regular office attendance is expected for which the frequency is determined at a team level.

The Hiring Process

What does the hiring process for this position look like? **Please, note that all interviews take place remotely over hangouts.**

  1. Intro Call - run by talent acquisition, focus on providing more information about the role and the company as well as going over your experience, motivation, and expectations. This usually takes 45-60 minutes.
  2. Case Study Submission / Take-home test - you will be assigned a task to submit within 5 up to 7 days where you will be able to showcase your expertise / technical skills required for the role.
  3. Expertise Interview - run by the hiring team, focus on the required core skills and the ability to deliver in a given context. This usually takes 60-90 minutes.
  4. Stakeholder Interview - run by relevant stakeholders reflecting the reality of the context of the role, focus on the ability to collaborate & deliver in a cross-functional set-up. This usually takes 60 minutes.
  5. Culture Interview - run by culture interviewers, focus on adherence to Wallapop's purpose and business proposition. This usually takes 60 minutes.
  6. Offer - should you be the right candidate, your offer will be discussed over a call with talent acquisition and will then be confirmed in writing.
