Siemens Digital Industries Software is a leading provider of solutions for the design, simulation, and manufacture of products across many different industries. Formula 1 cars, skyscrapers, ships, space exploration vehicles, and many of the objects we see in our daily lives are being conceived and manufactured using our Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software. Start your career with the Strategic Student Program (SSP)

The SSP is our formal internship program at SIEMENS Software. You will be mentored by experts and work directly with customers to create direct business impact and gain invaluable professional experience The program will require between 800-900 hours. There will be an opportunity to learn and contribute to a variety of areas of the software development process, with emphasis on several achievable projects to encourage your development and deliver something useful.

About the team

Based in Madrid, Spain, we are a team of creative problem solvers, strong in maths and visual thinking. Our goal is to make Computer Aided Design easy and enjoyable, through our development of Siemens' Synchronous Technology. We enjoy our work because of the substantial technical and creative challenges and because of its visual and spatial nature.

We are tasked with developing new solutions and given the time to innovate. We believe that innovation is incremental, experimental and team-based. We take time to protect our intellectual property with around 30 patents filed.

We have a relaxed and flexible working atmosphere and a culture of mutual respect and shared responsibility for getting the job done. Our modern office is centrally based, and benefits from a range of social activities for the 200 employees who work here.

What we're looking for

We're seeking passionate individuals studying Computer Science, Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or similar. If you love creative problem-solving in the whole chain of marine CAD solution, including specification, coding, validation, documentation, testing, maintenance, and technical support, and have strong communication skills, we want you

  1. Experience of C++, C#, Python.
  2. Knowledge of shipbuilding and marine terminology.
  3. Proficiency in the English language.
  4. Enjoy creative problem-solving and possess a passion for writing code and customer interaction.
  5. Clear visual thinker with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  6. Desire to collaborate in a friendly team environment.

You must be enrolled in a university in Spain and have at least 750 hours available from your university program for internships.

What you'll be doing

This is a software development internship focusing on the design, implementation, documentation, and testing of code in a variety of languages (C++, C#, Python) within a modern environment. The internship will last for 8 months from January 2025 to August 2025. There will be an opportunity to learn and contribute to a variety of areas of the marine software development and deployment processes, with emphasis on a number of achievable projects to both encourage your development and deliver something useful.
