Job Description.

What you’ll do. We are looking for a Director of Banquets to join the pre-opening team at SLS Barcelona. Under the guidance of the Director of Food & Beverage, the Director of Banquets is responsible for leading and managing the banquet team and operation. You’ll deliver high quality products and service levels while maintaining a profitable department.

  1. Establish, monitor, and manage budgeted revenue and net operating income.
  2. Develop and implement strategy for the department to achieve budgeted revenue and net operating income goals.
  3. Work closely with the Sales and Events teams to ensure guests expectations are met and exceeded.
  4. Establish and champion SLS specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) for the department.
  5. Oversee all aspects of training, orientation, and development for the department.
  6. Monitor quality of service and product.
  7. Ensure that labor and expense guidelines are adhered to maintain budgeted expenses.
  8. Supervise and provide leadership to the team.
  9. Organize and conduct department meetings.
  10. Promote guest satisfaction throughout the operation.
  11. Respond to guest complaints in a timely manner.
  12. Manage all phases of Loss Prevention within the department.
  13. Prepare and submit required reports in a timely manner.
  14. Distinguish SLS as the industry leaders that continually improve to maintain our cutting edge.
  15. Monitor industry trends, take appropriate action to maintain competitive and profitable.
  16. Work with Executive Committee members as needed and keep them informed of departmental issues as they arise.
  17. Work seamlessly with brand partners and corporate partnerships.
  18. Promote inter-company business relations and share best practices.
  19. Ensure compliance with all local liquor laws, health and sanitation regulations and all other Food and Beverage related life/safety and other legal compliance in accordance with federal and local laws.

Qualifications.

What we are looking for.

  1. 5+ years of experience in a senior food & beverage, banquets and/or catering role, preferably within a lifestyle brand.
  2. Resort and international experience preferred.
  3. You’re a strong team leader, a natural at managing and inspiring others in a way that gets the best out of them.
  4. You combine analytical and methodical thinking with high attention to detail and a solution-focused approach.
  5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Fluent in Spanish and English.
  6. You have a solid understanding of local legal compliance requirements.
  7. You make people feel good - your team, guests and colleagues alike. You make a positive impact.
  8. You are an excellent relationship builder, confident in working with other teams and leaders; you’re passionate about what we can achieve together.
  9. You take ownership of important issues, solve problems, and make effective decisions.
  10. You learn quickly and adapt to SLS’s unique culture.
