As a Rigging Artist you will collaborate closely with different departments including R&D, Art, Modelling, Layout, and Animation, to create, implement, manage, and support character and prop deformation rigs for the utilization by the Crowds, Layout, and Animation teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and maintain procedural rig components focusing on deformation with custom tools.
- Follow instructions to generate intricate production-ready rig deformations.
- Assist Animators with deformation rigs for diverse motion capabilities.
- Support rig progress through the pipeline and perform additional deformation fixes as required.
- Construct body, facial, and mechanical rig systems for use by various departments like Crowds, Animation, and Layout.
- Troubleshoot and resolve rig issues.
- Gather artistic feedback and refine rig behavior.
- Adhere to pipeline and rigging standards.
- Stay updated on current artistic practices, technology trends, and tools to enhance the creative and technical environment.
- Ensure timely delivery following production quality standards.
- Collaborate with team members when necessary.
- Follow guidance and support from Supervisors, Leads, and Seniors.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience in VFX or animation industries.
- Desirable 1+ year of experience in the animation sector.
- Demonstrated artistic and technical rigging expertise.
- Proficiency in a character pipeline environment.
- Practical knowledge of Maya in a production setting.
- Experience with sculpting tools for Body, Face, and Shot-Finaling.
- Solid grasp of animation principles.
- Anatomical understanding of facial muscles and their kinematic functions.
- Basic Python scripting skills following coding standards.
- Basic proficiency in English.
- Knowledge of Spanish is a plus.
