Position Summary
As a Rigging Supervisor, you will collaborate with diverse teams such as Research & Development, Art, Modeling, Layout, and Animation to create, implement, and enhance character and prop deformation rigs for both layout and animation processes. Your role is pivotal in breathing life into characters by designing and developing cutting-edge deformation and animation rigs tailored to various character styles and artistic directions.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and guide the rigging team, identifying individual skills and preferences to align with production needs and timelines.
- Design and uphold a modeling topology that supports the storyboarded deformation range in coordination with the modeling department.
- Collaborate closely with animators to ensure a comprehensive articulation of expressions and movements that reflect the characters' acting capabilities in the film.
- Execute briefs to deliver intricate, production-ready, high-quality rig deformations.
- Stay updated with contemporary artistic practices and technological advancements that best serve the production and the organization.
- Create and maintain Master Rigs that can be reused for similar characters or adapted for newly designed character sculpts.
- Innovate new techniques and concepts for user interfaces, deformation tools, and character-specific rigging solutions.
- Engage in turnover meetings, asset evaluations, and bidding processes throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in the VFX or animation sectors.
- At least 4 years of experience in a leadership role within the animation industry, with a strong background in rigging and deformation.
- A compelling portfolio showcasing attention to detail in facial surface features, underlying facial anatomy, and realistic organic expressions, along with proficiency in figure anatomy for both bipeds and quadrupeds.
- Fluency in English is required.
