As a Senior Construction Project Manager, you will be part of a dynamic team focused on overcoming exciting challenges in constructing and maintaining Amazon Data Centers. Our data centers are recognized for their energy efficiency and cost-effective designs.
The Senior Construction Project Manager oversees General Contractors at one or more data center construction sites, ensuring compliance across all disciplines such as civil, structural, architectural electrical, mechanical, controls, and commissioning. Additionally, they handle the management of construction contracts to guarantee full compliance with all commercial aspects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work on-site at construction offices, acting as Amazon's main contact and immediate responder to any issues.
- Travel to various data centers, Amazon offices, or vendor locations for project support or training.
- Manage General Contractors on construction sites, overseeing all disciplines and ensuring high-quality project delivery.
- Handle commercial management of construction contracts to ensure compliance.
- Collaborate with contractors and vendors to achieve efficient project outcomes.
- Review construction work for safety and quality compliance, supporting the commissioning process.
- Participate in bid evaluations and negotiations with contractors and procurement partners.
- Report on construction metrics, schedules, costs, and budgets.
- Lead in analyzing and resolving construction claims and variations.
- Mentor and support junior team members within internal and external teams.
About the Team:
Our Data Center Construction team manages the entire construction life cycle, from project inception to facility handover. We have opportunities available in Madrid, Spain.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS7+ years in construction site management.
3+ years managing construction contracts and contractors, including commercial administration.
3+ years working with operational facilities like data centers or energy plants.
English proficiency.
10+ years in construction site management.
3+ years leading construction contract packages.
5+ years working with operational facilities.
Bachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent certification.
Professional certification such as CCM, AC, or CPC.
Knowledge of industry safety standards.
Experience in Electrical, Mechanical, and Civil engineering principles.
Ability to build trust and relationships through local language knowledge.
Experience in persuasive writing.
