Our client, a major multinational company specialized in the student housing sector, seeks to employee for its branch in Spain (Madrid), the figure of a:

SENIOR ACCOUNTANT IBERIA (with Portuguese)

PURPOSE OF POSITION:


Reporting to the Head of Accounting and Finance, the selected person will be in charge of the accounting of Portugal, in contact with the official TOC placed in Portugal.

Also, he/ she will collaborate in the accounting of the Spanish Branch.

GENERAL FUNCTIONS AND SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Accounts Payable control. Collaborating with Accounts Payable Assistant and being responsible of preparing payments
  • You will be booking rental flows and follow up with the commercial team on outstanding receivables.
  • You will perform monthly soft closings from A to Z of different subsidiaries, quarterly closings with strict deadlines and a hard close on November.
  • General Ledger reconciliations and controls
  • Communication/coordination with the operational staff in the residencies in Spain and/or Portugal in order to register all transactions in a timely and correct manner.
  • You will work close together with the other members of the Finance team to have the closings done accurately and in time, in line with the deadlines set by HQ in Belgium.
  • You will be responsible, under supervision of the Finance & Accounting Manager, for the monthly/quarterly/yearly compliance with respect to VAT, income taxes, annual accounts with the certified accountants for Portugal and internally for Spain
  • You will liaise with the external accountant for the Portuguese entities with respect to statutory accounts.
  • You will prepare an audit file for the external auditors.
  • You will prepare Business plans for the residences under your responsibility.
  • You will do management accounting review on your properties and review with Residence Managers and Management Team
  • You will develop new controls over the activities in line with Internal Audit guidance.
  • You will participate on the development of the company on creating new procedures, reviewing existing ones, IT projects

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED.


You have a bachelor's degree in accountancy (taxation) and at least 5 years of experience in a similar position and have broad working experience in accounting.

Good oral communication skills

Knowledge of Winbooks is a plus

You can work fluently with Microsoft Excel

You have an excellent knowledge of

Spanish and Portuguese. High level of English is a plus.
