Summary / Role Purpose

The R&D Engineer II will contribute to the development of software products and associated systems. In this position, the R&D Engineer II will utilize advanced technical skills and problem-solving abilities to assist the team in addressing complex issues, meeting customer needs, and achieving development goals.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure optimal performance and quality of the software to be delivered.
  • Design, implement, and maintain software components that meet the specifications.
  • Maintain code quality and automation.
  • Apply best practices and support their maintenance through technical reviews.
  • Implement suitable testing approaches.
  • Conduct intricate bug verification, release testing, and beta support for assigned products. Investigate issues identified by QA or product support and devise solutions.
  • Collaborate in an agile setting.
  • Engage with project teams spanning applications and business units to address project needs.

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

  • BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field with 2 years of experience, MS with 1 year of experience, or PhD.
  • Understanding of software design and development methodologies.
  • Solid experience in Python, preferably in a commercial context.
  • Proficiency with development tools like Visual Studio Code, Git, MS Azure DevOps, or GitHub.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in written and verbal communication in English.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Solid grasp of software architecture principles and patterns.
  • Familiarity with Web architecture and Web API such as RESTful or gRPC.
  • Experience in Software Development LifeCycle processes, including testing and DevOps practices.
  • Experience with ANSYS or a similar CAE tool.
  • Experience with frontend technologies like Python Dash, Angular, or React.
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies.
  • Passion and drive for personal technical excellence and high performance.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a geographically dispersed team.
