The role will be based in our battery production plant in Guardamar/Segura del Alicante, Spain.

Your contribution:

  • This position is responsible for leading activities related to design, development, cost reduction opportunities, and analysis of low voltage battery products to meet customers' requirements.
  • Lead a small team of application engineers.
  • Manage the customer technical relationship on a global scale by serving as the principal technical interface.
  • Oversee cross-functional Clarios' technical activities globally to ensure timely resolution of customer engineering needs and concerns.
  • Articulate and promote Clarios' technology and product positioning to technical customers.
  • Collaborate with the CBU to comprehend the OE customer's technology, current challenges, product requirements, and future technical trends; communicate this internally to key stakeholders and support the translation into business opportunities.

Key responsibilities/What you will do:

  • Define, develop, improve, stabilize, and support low voltage battery design and components to meet customer specifications and cost reduction targets.
  • Predict battery design performance and ongoing compliance using computer modelling tools.
  • Manage small projects and Engineering project tasks and their completion concerning planning, organizing, directing, and controlling activities.
  • Document and present new designs and change proposals for Design Review evaluation.
  • Lead design validation builds, testing, and product documentation.
  • Coordinate product testing execution to meet validation plans.
  • Prepare and support risk analysis (FMEA) for new or modified designs.
  • Collaborate with regional and global Clarios facilities.
  • Support quality initiatives to ensure product performance.
  • Present Serial Product modifications to the customer, documenting OE requirements necessary to implement the change.
  • Assist with RFIs and RFQs by providing technical information.
  • Handle daily technical inquiries from the customer.
  • Organize, lead, document, and follow up on customer communications regarding Clarios Product line Roadmaps.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: What we look for

  • BS or equivalent in chemistry, physics, engineering, or a related technical field. MS preferred.
  • Significant years of Engineering experience or equivalent.
  • In-depth understanding of low voltage battery design and function.
  • Thorough understanding of the fundamentals of all low voltage battery manufacturing processes.
  • Comprehensive battery knowledge across technologies.
  • Extensive experience in automotive OE customer development processes.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Experience in engineering management or leadership role is desirable.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to think analytically and promote teamwork and cross-functional alignment.
  • Fluent in business English and Spanish, with additional languages preferred.
  • Willingness to Travel up to 30% of the time.
