  • We are currently looking for a Global Category Manager Air/Courier/Ocean freight & Customs Clearance Services to join our team in Alcobendas, Spain

Your responsibilities and tasks:

Your challenge


You will develop the global strategic procurement category plans and will initiate cross-regional cost reduction and sustainability initiatives in close cooperation with the different divisions and regional logistics procurement colleagues.

Your objective is to build a world-class supply base, with suppliers who are able to deliver value to GEA's TCO improvement and sustainability targets.

Your team


As part of GEA's Indirect Procurement organization, you are part of the global Logistics Procurement team and report centrally into the VP Indirect Procurement Logistics.

You work in close cooperation with your global peers, the Regional Logistics Category Managers, and the Supply Chain stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic procurement activities linked to the Category with an approximate global spend of 50m EUR.
  • Create the global Category strategies for GEA Procurement and Supply Chain.
  • Support the Regional Logistics Category Managers in the rollout of the Category strategies.
  • Lead global contract and price negotiations for the Category inline with procurement and supply chain strategies/targets.
  • Focus on the total spend and the entire supply chain on Category level to achieve best cost structures.
  • Drive supply base consolidation and maintain a preferred supply base.
  • Act as contract and account manager for global suppliers.
  • Develop mid
- and long-term cost savings, cash optimization, and sustainability improvement roadmaps and proactively maintain and update the opportunity funnel.

  • Establish programs for (further) development of supplier relationships, negotiations, performance measurement, and sustainability improvements.
  • Key member of the global and regional Category area team.
  • Continuously optimize procurement processes and related key figures.
  • Ensure proper use of processes and tools.

Your profile and qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Procurement or Supply Chain Management
  • 10+ years of experience in strategic logistics procurement, commercial, or supply chain roles
  • Profound knowledge of the global air/courier/ocean freight and customs industries, relevant contract, and price negotiations, and optimizations
  • Cultural Awareness
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills with the ability to influence and motivate others
  • Work experience both in complex matrix and centralized organizations
  • Profound project management skills
  • Negotiation experience across the global logistics supplier markets
  • Systems, Ariba, S2P, SAP experience is an advantage
  • Fluent English skills in written and spoken form
  • Ability to network and build relationships
  • Deep understanding of business on a broad international scale
  • Very good analytical capabilities, problemsolving skills and ability to think strategically
  • Takes ownership of the work, successes, and mistakes
  • Very good communication skills
