    The Head of Teaching and Learning will be a member of the school's Senior and Educational Leadership Team.
  • The Head of Teaching and Learning at Hamelin-Laie is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing curriculum development, instructional strategies, and assessment practices from kindergarten through 12th grade. The role requires a visionary educator with a deep understanding of pedagogy, curriculum design, and assessment, as well as exceptional leadership and communication skills. The Head of Teaching and Learning will collaborate with teachers, staff, and Senior Leadership Team to ensure that the school's educational programs align with our mission and promote the academic and personal growth of all students.
  • Key Responsibilities:

Curriculum Development:

  • Review our current Curriculum offer across the school.
  • Collaborate with Heads of section to design and maintain a vertically aligned K12 curriculum.
  • Ensure that curriculum materials and resources are uptodate, relevant, and engaging for students.
  • Monitor and evaluate curriculum effectiveness through regular reviews and feedback from teachers and administrators.

Professional Development:

  • Plan and coordinate regular professional development workshops, focusing on best practices and innovative teaching strategies.
  • Offer personalized coaching and mentoring to educators to support their professional growth.
  • Facilitate opportunities for teachers to participate in professional learning communities.
  • 3.

Data Analysis & Assessment:

  • Carry out a full review of assessment and data across the school.
  • Lead the analysis of standardized test results, formative and summative assessments, and other student performance data.
  • Use data to identify achievement gaps, adjust curriculum, and inform instructional strategies.
  • Develop a systematic process for data review and the implementation of datadriven decisions.
  • Develop a comprehensive assessment plan, including clear benchmarks, to measure student growth and achievement.
  • Implement a variety of assessment tools, such as rubrics, exams, and portfolios.
  • Review the assessments regularly to ensure their alignment with curriculum goals and academic standards.

Instructional Leadership:

  • Foster a culture of collaboration and innovation among teaching staff.
  • Provide guidance on differentiated instruction, projectbased learning, and other instructional methods that align with best practices in education.
  • Observe and provide constructive feedback to teachers, recognizing and sharing exemplary teaching practices.

Community Engagement:

  • Maintain open lines of communication with students, and community stakeholders.
  • Organize with SLT regular teacher meetings, curriculum nights, and educational forums to involve parents in their child's education.
  • Support our MAC team with a communication strategy to engage parents and raise awareness of teaching and learning.

Research and Stay Current:

  • Keep abreast of educational trends, research, and innovative practices in teaching and learning.
  • Share the latest research findings and their potential impact on teaching and learning with staff.
  • These detailed responsibilities provide a comprehensive view of the expectations and contributions of the Head of Teaching and Learning at Hamelin-Laie. This role is central to ensuring that the school's curriculum and teaching practices are of the highest quality and are designed to meet the needs of all students while staying aligned with the school's mission and goals.
