Overview:


The Sustainability Office (SO) is a transversal unit at IE University that works collaboratively with every department and school to mainstream sustainability into all aspects of the institution, including the academic curriculum, operations, and the organizational culture.

The impact that each one of us has on the environment and society starts with small steps that lead to a sustainable mindset.

At IEU, we thought a lot about what kind of knowledge we must cultivate to help our students thrive in tomorrow's world; introducing purpose in every step, educating, and encouraging our team and students to be the change they want to see in the world.

Today, sustainability is key to our strategic development and is a part of every element of the university's life, helping us engage with our local communities and global partners.


The Impact Teaching, Research and Operations Manager will give support to the SO in the design, development, implementation and coordination of sustainability-related academic contents, research projects, and transversal institutional initiatives, as well as helping to boost IE's contribution to cutting edge Sustainability related knowledge.


They will report to the Global Head of Sustainability and will work with other members of IE University, including Faculty, Schools, and transversal departments, such as Student Experience, Research Office, Communications, Admissions, Marketing, Corporate Relations, International Development and IE Foundation.


Responsibilities:

Key Action Areas:

  • Work with all campus community, including students, faculty, and staff from every school and IE centre, to promote an understanding and awareness of sustainability issues by coordinating informational training and presentations and promoting the goals set by our institution regarding sustainability.
  • Serve as a liaison between various campus entities to assure communication and resource coordination for sustainability programs and projects.
  • Coordinate and compile University data for reporting.
  • Implement and maintain internal sustainability training and programming.
  • Give support, define, and coordinate with third party the implementation of quality procedures and practices at IE such as ISO 14001 and ISO 5000
  • Support contractors during sustainability related auditing (Carbon footprint, ISO, etc.).
  • Create promotional and educational materials by writing, editing, and designing content for brochures, fliers, bulletin board displays, newsletters, etc.
  • Develop and maintain the IE University sustainability website to include information highlighting sustainability actions undertaken at the University, sustainabilityrelated programming and events, curriculum opportunities, resources for individuals interested in sustainable living, information on recycling, social impact activities and much more.
  • Assist in defining sustainability goals and track performance metrics to assess program effectiveness.
  • Improve the effectiveness of the University's sustainability practices by monitoring best practices related to sustainability at the University's benchmark peer institutions and other select institutions and make recommendations for new sustainability programming and modifications to existing programs.
  • Work with Student clubs focused on sustainability by coordinating different initiatives.
  • Attend the Sustainability Committee and related subcommittee meetings and implement recommendations.
  • Attend meetings with external organizations to represent the University.
  • Support Facilities Management and other departments as appropriate in relation to implementing sustainability programs.
  • Research and identify grantwriting and other funding opportunities in support of expanded campus sustainability efforts.
  • Identify innovative content for programs (specific, transversal, new programs) and work with schools to adequately implement them.
  • Knowledge generation (applied and academic research).
  • Identification of outstanding professionals to propose as faculty to Faculty & Programs.
  • Actively seek for competitive sources of funding to support teaching and research activities based on IE University's priorities and capabilities.
  • Preparation of proposals and associated budget for teaching and/or research activities.
  • Coordinate the presentation of research proposals and identification of key partners.
  • Coordination with all internal departments to properly comply with internal policies and the correct elaboration of any given task.

Qualifications:

Requirements:

  • Master's degree from a top university. Specific training in sustainability issues will be valued.
  • Professional proficiency in English and Spanish.
  • Analytical skills and capability to multitask and cope with a fastpaced changing environment under time pressure and dealing with complexity and diverse backgrounds.
