Lighting Artist: - Join aheartfulofgames, a thriving game development studio based in Madrid, Spain, and become an integral part of our creative team. As a middlesized studio, we are dedicated to delivering visually stunning and immersive gaming experiences. If you have a passion for lighting design, technical artistry, and enhancing visual aesthetics in games, we invite you to contribute your skills to our dynamic and collaborative environment.
- At aheartfulofgames we value independence and flexibility on a mostly horizontal organizational structure. We are looking for a permanent hire that can further expand and strengthen our art team and grow with us and our projects.
- The Lighting artist is expected to work along the environment team and the Art Coordinators to help bring our environments to life while keeping within tight performance targets.
Some of the expected responsibilities will be:
placement of lights, lightprobes, researching of new lighting worklflows and tools, shader research and integration, and even environment re-design to better guide gameplay and visual composition.
- Because of our size, structure and ethics, we are looking for a very handson Lighting Artist, one who can research tools and processes as needed, and is willing to express creativity with the craft, and is not afraid of trying new approaches. Most importantly we want somebody who can work with the creative director and the whole team to make sure the characters express personality and gameplay as strongly as possible.
Minimum Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Lighting Artist in the gaming industry.
- Proficiency in Unity 3D.
- Strong understanding of lighting principles, color theory, and visual composition.
- Ability to optimize lighting for performance while maintaining visual fidelity.
- Experience with postprocessing effects and shaders.
- Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with crossfunctional teams.
- Portfolio showcasing lighting in previous projects.
Desired Requirements:
- Experience with dynamic and static lighting setups.
- Knowledge of realtime rendering techniques and global illumination.
- Previous involvement in the development of commercially successful games.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the art and design teams to create visually striking lighting setups that enhance the overall atmosphere of the game.
- Implement and optimize lighting solutions within the constraints of the game engine to achieve the desired visual quality.
- Work closely with level designers to ensure lighting complements the game's narrative and gameplay.
- Develop and implement postprocessing effects to enhance the visual appeal of the game.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to lighting and shading.
- Contribute to the creation of tools and pipelines to streamline the lighting and technical art workflow.
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in lighting techniques.
