About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled VFX Artist to join our team at Secret 6. As a VFX Artist, you will be responsible for creating visually stunning special effects for our games.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Design and Create Special Effects: Design and create visually pleasing special effects for a variety of projects in Secret 6.
  2. Collaborate with the Art Team: Collaborate closely with the Art Manager and other team members to ensure the highest quality and deliver astonishing special effects in each project.
  3. Develop and Implement VFX Assets: Assist in the creation of exceptional VFX assets, following the artistic and technical guidelines, graphic style, theme, and other visual requirements.
  4. Optimize VFX Assets: Ensure that assets and artwork are optimized in regard to performance and best practices for the desired target platforms while retaining artistic integrity.
  5. Provide Support and Guidance: Provide support on the VFX asset production, maintain, research, and share knowledge of best art techniques and practices.
  6. Experience and Skills: Experience in Motion graphics and visual effects design, UV handling for custom 3D meshes, and proficiency in creating particle systems and other effects using 3D software and game engines.
  7. Collaborate with the Technical Team: Collaborate with the Technical artists, Designers, and other team members to maximize the project's visual impact using particle systems and other elements.
  8. Work with Unreal Engine: Create animated content in Unreal Engine and adjust.
  9. Deliver High-Quality Assets: Deliver assets that meet real-time engine constraints and programming and animation requirements.
  10. Additional Responsibilities: Assist with designs and how it relates to your effects, syncing with technical art for optimization, create original and custom 3D models, 2D assets, and advise management in a timely manner of any issues which may impact project schedules.
Requirements
  1. Professional Experience: At least 2-4 years of professional experience as a VFX Artist.
  2. Credited in a Published Game Title: Credited in at least one published AAA game title for creating effects.
  3. Video Game Optimization Techniques: Proficient in video game optimization techniques.
  4. Color Theory and Composition: In-depth color theory, shape, and composition understanding, general modeling skills, and texturing packages.
  5. Technical Skills: Strong technical understanding of Unreal Engine 5, up-to-date industry workflows, and awareness of performance and optimization.
  6. Autonomy and Task Management: Able to autonomously follow guidelines and execute tasks within a given timeframe, accurately and efficiently perform task breakdowns and estimations for scheduling when required.
  7. 3D Modeling and Animation: Experience in 3D modeling and animation using software such as 3Ds Max, Maya, or Blender.
  8. Particle Systems and Effects: Proficiency in creating particle systems and other effects using 3D software and game engines.
  9. Unreal Engine 5 Niagara: Strong experience with the Unreal Engine 5 Niagara particle pipeline.
  10. Unreal Shaders: Strong experience working with Unreal Shaders.
  11. Substance Designer: Experience working with Substance Designer.
  12. Real-Time Techniques: In-depth knowledge of real-time techniques used in video game development.
  13. Creative Problem-Solving: Ability to creatively solve issues while maintaining performance standards.
  14. Photoshop and Post-Production: Proficiency in Photoshop and understanding of post-production processes.
  15. Lighting and Composition: Excellent lighting skills and ability to render final art creatively.
  16. Communication and Organization: Excellent communication and organizational skills, team-oriented mindset, and willingness to share knowledge and learn from colleagues.
  17. Estimating and Organizing Art Tasks: Skills in estimating and organizing art tasks during the planning process.
  18. Language Skills: Fluent in both written and spoken English and Spanish.
