From the Vegetables business unit, we need to incorporate a Genomics Project Lead. This role must be held in Cabrera de Mar, Barcelona.

 

What will be your responsibilities?

  • Lead and execute the project management in the genomics area:

o Analyze, together with the different functional areas and the Breeding team, the needs of new biotechnology tools, protocols, and methodologies to accelerate / improve the process of variety creation.

o Push and supervise the whole execution of the project in terms of deadlines and quality.

o Collaborate cross-functionally with key internal (including Biotech, Breeding, Development, etc…) and external stakeholders to deliver results.

o Analyze and interpret results using different bioinformatics and biostatistics tools.

o Present results to internal stakeholders and valuate potential IP from project deliverables.

  • Support, train and assure that all the Biotech units and the Breeding team understand and correctly use the genomics tools (genetic mapping of traits of interest, molecular breeding and computational data analysis).
  • Stay informed with the trends in the new breeding tools by keeping up with the scientific literature and participating in the internal Strategic breeding and development meetings, and international scientific congresses.

Requirements:

You are the talent we are looking if you:

  • You do have a Ph.D. in Plant Breeding, Genomics, Genetics, Plant Biotechnology and/or Bioinformatics.
  • Strong knowledge of genomics and quantitative genetics.
  • Experience in molecular biology and functional genomics.
  • Knowledge in population genomics.
  • Excellent understanding of bioinformatics tools, statistics, and experimental design principles.
  • Good understanding of biotechnology tools and methods and their application in plant breeding.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management.
  • English as a working language (written and verbal is required).
  • It will be valued experience in the Vegetable Seed sector.
