WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The purpose of the job is to take responsibility for all propellant and liner formulations used in rocket motors or base bleed propellants both for composite propellants as well as for Cross Linked Double Base (XLDB) propellants. Will work closely with the responsible quality assurance and propellant production staff as well as the rocket engineer to ensure propellant formulations are manufactured according to mixing sheets and to ensure final propellant will comply to burn rate and mechanical specifications.

The Key performance areas will be:

Serve as the single point of contact and responsibility to ensure propellant and liner technology, formulations and manufacturing technology is transferred from external organisations in the case of Technology Transfer contracts for rocket motors Provide a technical support service to the Manufacturing Department during series production. This includes: design of formulations before start of series production, manage document changes and non-conformances and solve technical problems by leading and conducting investigations and industrializing new materials and/or processes. Direct and control activities between the pilot/production plants, laboratories and test facilities. Develop new propellant and liner formulations within quality, schedule and cost constraints Develop or acquire the technology to bond propellants to insulation and other materials Develop documentation to capture mixing, casting and curing instructions for use on production plants Develop and expand the technical know-how base and capabilities for composite propellant technology as well as XLDB in Rheinmetall Expal Munitions to support current and future programs Participate in design reviews and technical project meetings to ensure low risk designs and achievement of cost objectives and milestone schedules

Location: Presence in Madrid, Spain. 

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry or Polymer Science as a minimum qualification. A Post graduate qualification such as a Masters degree is preferred At least 3 years’ experience in a chemical manufacturing company preferably in an explosive environment. Experience in formulating composite rocket propellants highly recommended Experience in a military explosive related environment will be an advantage. An understanding of the risks associated with explosives and propellants or the processing of dangerous materials. A formal qualification, training or demonstrated experience in explosives safety will be advantageous Ability to work independently as well as in a team in a matrix-organisation Good communication skills in English while Spanish language ability will be advantageous WHAT WE OFFER YOU Flexible benefits in collaboration with Cobee Indefinite employment contract Creative and dynamic work environment
