The Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) is a cutting-edge institute addressing global public health challenges through research, translation into policy and education. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FORISGlobal is seeking a Public & Patient Involvement (PPI) / Citizen Science Technician to coordinate, manage, and implement qualitative and participatory research activities within the eQUOL project. The role involves supporting the organization and execution of focus groups, facilitating patient and caregiver engagement, and ensuring high-quality participatory and citizen-science processes across project sites as part of this EU-funded Horizon Europe initiative.
The overall eQUOL project aims to improve equity and quality of life for Children, Adolescents and Young Adult Cancer Survivors (CAYACS) with cognitive impairments by co-designing and evaluating digital long-term follow-up tools.
Within this framework, the sub-study "Qualitative Study of Children, Adolescents and Young Adults Cancer Survivors (CAYACS) with Neurocognitive Impairments and Their Families" focuses specifically on understanding the unmet needs of CAYACS with mild–moderate neurocognitive impairments. The study explores their lived experiences, identifies challenges in long-term follow-up care, supports participatory research processes involving survivors and families, and generates insights that will guide the development of equitable, inclusive and accessible e-health tools across Europe.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Coordinate the participatory research activities of the qualitative study.
- Support all phases of the research: patient journey mapping, stakeholder mapping, development of patient archetypes, and focus group preparation
- Manage communication with CAYACS participants, families, healthcare professionals, and partner institutions.
- Ensure consistent implementation of ethical and methodological procedures across sites.
- Contribute to data collection, documentation, and reporting to EU project leads.
- Coordinate dissemination.
- Organize and co-facilitate focus groups (logistics, scheduling, documentation, note-taking, transcription coordination).
- Support development of recruitment materials (flyers, information sheets) using approved templates
- Coordinate the Patients & Caregivers Advisory Committee.
- Prepare meeting minutes, internal reports, and WP updates for the EU consortium.
- Assist in qualitative analysis (coding, theme identification, synthesis).
- Maintain contact with partner institutions to ensure harmonized data collection and intercultural adaptations.
- Participate in co-creation activities related to digital tool development.
- Support manuscript preparation and scientific communication as appropriate.

The post holder will adhere to ISGlobal principles contained in People management policy, including Equity, diversity and health safety. The post holder will respect, and be accountable to ensure ISGlobal policies and procedures.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS- Bachelor's degree required.
- Master's degree preferred in Social Sciences, Public Health, Global Health, Psychology, Anthropology, or related fields.
- Minimum 1–2 years' experience in research support, project coordination or PPI/citizen science activities
- Experience working with vulnerable populations, ideally youth or chronic disease groups.
- Experience in qualitative research (focus groups, interviews, thematic analysis).
- Experience in participatory methodologies, co-creation, or citizen science.
- Knowledge of patient-centred research and patient experience frameworks
- Ability to interact empathetically with cancer survivors and families.
- Experience organizing stakeholder meetings and participatory activities.
- Familiarity with ethical considerations for vulnerable populations (e.g., informed consent)
- Proficiency in English (C1). Other EU languages are an asset.
- Strong skills in planning, documentation, and coordination of EU-funded projects.

SELECTION PROCESSThe selection process is designed in two phases:
1- Interview phase of a technical nature, with the team that requires the incorporation. To assess the person's skills and CV.
2 - Meeting with HR with the finalist(s) to finish assessing the profile and discuss contractual and institutional issues.
If needed any technical test could be passed. A Psychological Competency Evaluation Test will be required for the structural or transversal positions.
In accordance with the OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for every vacancy at the beginning of the process. After reviewing the content of the applications, the panel will start the interviews, with at least one technical and one administrative interview. A profile questionnaire as well as a technical exercise may be required during the process.
