to join our growing Risk team. This role plays a key part in monitoring and analyzing merchant portfolios, assessing performance trends, and ensuring our risk exposure remains within acceptable thresholds. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in merchant risk monitoring, onboarding, and performance reviews, preferably in the payments, acquiring, or fintech space.
You'll work closely with client service, compliance, and operations teams to review and evaluate merchant performance, identify anomalies, and implement appropriate mitigation actions. This is a great opportunity for someone who combines strong analytical skills with a keen understanding of risk behaviors in the digital payments ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyze merchant performance data (MIDs) including volume, chargebacks, refunds, and fraud trends.
- Conduct risk checks and ongoing reviews for new and existing merchants to ensure compliance with internal and card scheme standards.
- Support MID enrollment reviews, ensuring appropriate risk tiering, documentation, and approval alignment.
- Monitor merchant performance and chargeback activity to ensure compliance with card network thresholds and programs such as VAMP (Visa Acquirer Monitoring Program) and Mastercard Chargeback Monitored Merchant programs.
- Investigate alerts, anomalies, or scheme notifications (TC40, SAFE, etc.), escalating as needed.
- Prepare and maintain risk reports and dashboards to track portfolio health and key KPIs.
- Participate in the continuous enhancement of risk procedures, controls, and monitoring tools.
- Support periodic audits and contribute to internal documentation related to risk management activities.
What We're Looking For
- 2–3 years of experience in risk, fraud, or payments operations, ideally within an acquirer, PSP, or fintech environment.
- Solid understanding of merchant acquiring, chargeback processes, and card scheme regulations (Visa/Mastercard).
- Analytical mindset with experience using Excel, BI tools, or SQL for data review and trend analysis.
- Ability to work autonomously, manage multiple priorities, and maintain accuracy under pressure.
- Strong communication and reporting skills able to translate complex risk insights into clear recommendations.
- Detail-oriented with a proactive, problem-solving approach.
Nice To Have
- Exposure to fraud monitoring tools or transaction risk platforms.
- Knowledge of AML/CTF, PSD2, or EMI/PI regulatory frameworks.
- Experience in merchant underwriting or portfolio risk management.
- Familiarity with Visa and Mastercard monitoring programs (e.g., VAMP, VDMP, VFMP, MC CMP).
Why Join Us
- Work in a fast-growing fintech/payments environment with a global footprint.
- Collaborate with experienced professionals across risk, compliance, and operations.
- Gain exposure to diverse merchant verticals and emerging payment models.
- Opportunity to shape and enhance our risk management framework as we scale.
