Solutions Architect

About the Role

We are seeking a strategic and technically proficient Solutions Architect to join Sanoma Learning and help shape the future of our digital learning platforms. This role is pivotal in translating business needs into scalable, secure, and interoperable architectural solutions that support our mission to deliver high-quality educational experiences across Europe.

As a Solutions Architect, you will work closely with product teams, Tech leads, developers, and fellow architects to design robust solutions aligned with our reference architecture and strategic goals. You will play a key role in ensuring that our platforms are future-proof, well-integrated, and capable of supporting diverse educational markets.

Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic & Technical Leadership

• Design end-to-end solutions for digital learning platforms, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and business requirements.

• Provide architectural guidance and support to engineering delivery teams throughout the development lifecycle.

• Evaluate and introduce modern architectural frameworks, tools, and best practices.

• Analyse dependencies and integration points across systems and products to ensure interoperability and scalability.

• Contribute to solution documentation, gap analysis, and technical feasibility assessments.

Cross-Domain Collaboration

• Collaborate with international architecture peers to define and evolve reference architectures.

• Work closely with product, engineering, and business teams to ensure coherence and reuse across domains.

• Support strategic planning and roadmap development for platform evolution and shared services.

• Facilitate architectural walkthroughs and technical workshops across business units.

• Act as a key contributor in enterprise-wide architecture forums.

Governance & Operational Oversight

• Support the Architecture Competence in scoping and reviewing solution designs, guidelines, and ways of working.

• Ensure architectural consistency and adherence to Sanoma Learning's strategic technology direction.

• Maintain a clear overview of solution components and their alignment with enterprise standards.

Talent Development & Thought Leadership

• Promote architectural excellence, innovation, and knowledge sharing across teams.

• Foster a culture of continuous learning and technical leadership.

• Participate in architecture-related events and communities within Sanoma Learning.

Must-Have Technical Skills

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or related field

5+ years of experience in solution architecture or software design

Strong knowledge of cloud-native architectures, APIs, and integration patterns

Experience working in agile environments

Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on technical problem solving

Excellent collaboration and communication skills

Fluent in English

Experience with educational platforms and interoperability standards

Familiarity with AWS, Kubernetes, and observability tools like Datadog

Knowledge of OAuth2, SSO, and identity management systems

Experience with microservices and event-driven architectures

Background in data architecture and analytics platforms

Proficiency in other European languages
