Platform Domain Architect

About the Role:

We are looking for a highly skilled and visionary Platform Domain Architect to lead the design and evolution of our core platform capabilities. This strategic role focuses on enabling scalable, secure, and interoperable solutions across Sanoma Learning's digital ecosystem. You will be responsible for driving architectural excellence in areas such as CIAM (Customer Identity and Access Management), API-driven development, asynchronous processing, AI integration, and cloud infrastructure. As a Platform Domain Architect, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure platform services meet business needs and technical standards.

Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic & Technical Leadership

• Define and evolve platform architecture strategy aligned with Sanoma Learning's enterprise goals.

• Lead initiatives around CIAM, API-first design, asynchronous processing, and cloud-native infrastructure.

• Evaluate emerging technologies including AI and machine learning for platform integration.

• Ensure platform capabilities support scalability, security, and interoperability across domains.

Solution Design & Collaboration

• Collaborate with product, engineering, and architecture teams to design reusable platform services.

• Guide solution architects and developers in implementing platform-aligned solutions.

• Support cross-domain integration and shared service enablement.

• Facilitate architectural reviews and technical workshops.

Governance & Standards

• Define and maintain platform architecture principles, standards, and governance frameworks.

• Promote best practices in API lifecycle management, identity management, and cloud operations.

• Ensure compliance with security, privacy, and regulatory requirements.

• Contribute to enterprise-wide architecture forums and roadmap planning.

Must-Have Technical Skills

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or related field
8+ years of experience in platform architecture or related technical leadership roles
Deep expertise in CIAM solutions (e.g. OAuth2, OpenID Connect, Auth0)
Strong knowledge of API design, management, and security (REST, GraphQL, API gateways)
Experience with asynchronous processing (e.g. event-driven architectures, message queues)
Familiarity with AI/ML integration patterns and data pipelines
Proficient in cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP) and container orchestration (Kubernetes)
Excellent English proficiency and communication skills
Agile mindset with proven collaboration across teams

Experience with identity federation and multi-tenant architectures
Knowledge of data privacy regulations (GDPR, etc.)
Familiarity with observability tools (Datadog, Prometheus, etc.)
Understanding of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
Experience with design systems and platform UX considerations
Proficiency in additional languages (e.g. Dutch, Spanish)
