As we expand into new international markets, we're looking for talented, driven individuals to join us on this exciting journey. This is more than a job — it's an opportunity to be a key contributor to our dynamic team and help shape the future of global data infrastructure.
If you're passionate about innovation, technology, and growth, we invite you to be part of DayOne's next chapter.
As the Energy Supply Leader for EMEA, you will own DayOne's regional energy strategy end‑to‑end—ensuring our data centers run on the most cost‑efficient, sustainable, and resilient power solutions. You will manage strategic relationships with DSOs, TSOs, utilities, and energy retailers, while guiding site selection with expert insight on grid access, market conditions, and long‑term energy potential.
You'll lead the full energy procurement lifecycle, from sourcing and contracting (including PPAs) to overseeing billing, forecasting consumption, and optimizing balancing and grid service costs. In this role, you will directly influence commercial strategy, drive energy‑efficiency initiatives, monitor regulatory changes, and represent DayOne with key industry stakeholders.
This is a high‑impact, strategic role at the intersection of energy, infrastructure, and innovation—shaping how DayOne delivers reliable, sustainable, future‑ready power across EMEA.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Planning
Define and lead the regional energy supply strategy across EMEA, aligning with DayOne's growth plans and customer needs.
Develop long-term procurement strategies including PPAs, hedging, and grid service opportunities.
Monitor and assess regulatory developments, fiscal incentives, and energy market trends to inform strategic decisions.
Establish frameworks for energy certification, guarantees of origin, and compliance with sustainability standards.
Execution & Delivery
Oversee the full energy procurement lifecycle: sourcing, contracting, billing supervision, and cost control.
Manage consumption forecasting and ramp-up planning in coordination with customers and retailers.
Control balancing services costs and deviations, ensuring operational efficiency and financial accuracy.
Ensure compliance with energy-related taxes, incentives, and schemes for electro-intensive companies.
Commercial & Stakeholder Engagement
Build and maintain strategic relationships with energy retailers, producers, utilities, grid operators, and regulators.
Represent DayOne in industry forums and regulatory discussions to advocate for favorable energy policies.
Collaborate with customers to align energy strategies with their sustainability and cost-efficiency goals.
Negotiate and manage commercial agreements related to energy supply and grid services.
Leadership, Organization & Culture
Lead and develop a high-performing energy team across the region, fostering a culture of innovation and accountability.
Promote cross-functional collaboration between energy, construction, operations, and sustainability teams.
Champion DayOne's commitment to environmental responsibility and energy excellence.
Drive continuous improvement and knowledge sharing across the organization.
Required Skills, Knowledge & Experience
Minimum of 15 years' experience in the energy markets, utilities, or infrastructure sector, with at least 10 years in leadership roles—ideally within data centers, large-load industrial environments, or mission-critical infrastructure.
Deep expertise in energy markets across EMEA, grid connection processes, utility agreements and on-site generation.
Proven track record signing energy supply contracts across multiple countries or regions.
Experience managing energy certificates, guarantees of origin, and navigating fiscal frameworks including energy-related taxes, incentives, and electro-intensive schemes.
Demonstrated ability to engage with utilities, TSOs, regulators, government bodies, and internal executive stakeholders.
Commercial acumen in energy procurement, contract negotiation, cost modeling, and risk management.
Excellent communication skills—able to influence at board level and collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
High adaptability and resilience in fast-paced, complex, and multi-country environments.
Engineering degree (electrical, energy, or power engineering preferred) or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in the data center sector (hyperscale, colocation) or comparable electro-intensive infrastructure environments.
Familiarity with renewable energy integration, microgrids, and advanced energy storage solutions.
Demonstrated experience managing P&L, energy budgets, or a portfolio of infrastructure assets.
Advanced education (MSc, MBA, or equivalent) is a plus.
Strong professional network across EMEA utilities, regulators, and energy associations.
Fluency in English; additional European languages (e.g., Spanish, German, French) highly desirable.
