ISP Regional H&S Manager Role Profile

Purpose of Role

Ensure that all the different parts of Health and Safety are being actioned, including drills, emergency plans, accidents, audits, trainings and prevention of occupational risks.

ISP Regional Health and Safety Manager

  • Facilities/Property:
  • Prevention of Occupation Risks (Spain) aligned to H&S information:
    • Ensure that all the staff receive H&S information regarding occupational risks once they enter to the school and it is renovating every three years.
  • Audits:
    • Coordinate with all areas to ensure the completion of outstanding actions following an audit.
    • Update the action progress when necessary.
    • Liaise with global team for guidance and advice on safety matters and the Regional Head of Property on building issues.
    • Ensure any actions arising from the health and safety audits are addressed
  • Health and Safety:
    • Participate in H&S committee meetings providing a global vision of health and safety management in the school.
    • Identify safety training needs and work with the Head/Principal to ensure these are delivered.
    • Ensure Safety is part of the induction at the beginning of the year, and new hires by delivering the induction through the H%S Coordinator in schools, as well as having all new hires and leaders have signed the Health and Safety responsibilities document. Keep signed records.
    • Ensure registers are taking so that this is evidencing and we ensure all staff receive the information.
    • Reinforce H&S is a topic in all the SLT meetings
    • Promote H&S culture through the staff during the school year e.g. weekly H&S tips sent to them, tips in different stage meetings.
    • Commit to having periodic checks to ensure that adequate periodic hazard spotting tours with senior leaders are carrying out to ensure the safety of the buildings, maintain a record of quarterly Safety Reviews
    • Ensure hazardous substances are properly managed: Safety storage, inaccessible to students, inventories and PPEs available and that tool checks are conducting every term.
    • Guarantee hazardous substances are properly managed: Safety storage, inaccessible to students, PPEs available, inventories, Safety data sheets.
  • Global Safeguarding Policies/H&S actions:
    • Drills (Fire, Lockdown and Earthquake): considering a minimum of 4 Fire drills and 2 Lockdown drills, ensuring a drill is carrying out in the first week of the academic year, and comply that all schools have all records of 360 within 24 hours of the drill taking place.
  • Reporting and Documentation:
    • Update the board at least annually or when there is a change in circumstances.
    • Update handbooks at least annually or when there is a significant change in procedures for all teaching specialized departments such as Science and Chemistry, among others.
    • Update the Local Safety plan and Emergency/Crisis plan, ensuring it is accurate, updated annually and available to all staff e.g. displaying on the Safety Notice Board, emailed to staff, reviewed during the safety induction.
    • Keep and maintain the Health and Safety Guidance document and update with any new procedures when given
    • Coordinate the Company's risk assessment programme throughout the schools
    • Maintain the documents for all actions regarding prevention services Planning.
    • Ensure school self-protection plan is in place and updated every three years or when significant changes in the buildings are done.
  • Coordinate Health & Safety with Contractors:

    • Ensure facility reviews and inspections done by external companies and guarantee the facilities compliance regarding actions and documentation.
    • Ensure contractors follow the procedure in all schools.
    • Make sure that all the contractors at the schools are authorizing and have all the documents approved before they enter to the school. CTAIMA.
  • Labour Legal Matters:

  • Submit statutory notification reports as required by local legislation, and identify implications of changes in local legislation or guidance
  • Ensure medical checks are done every two years.
  • Ensure with Valora Prevencion the surveys are done every two- three years, including the historical registration per school.
  • Maintain complete planning documents of the Valora Prevención/ISP Risk assessments when necessary.
  • Ensure that school trips and trips with students are organized in good time d risks are properly assessing.
  • Accidents with students/staff: ensure all accidents are being recorded properly on 360 by the Nurse/First Aideras well as coordinate and register the accident investigation when necessary
