The British School of Barcelona (BSB) is a great school in a wonderful location. We are an HMC school and were judged by a recent BSO (British Schools Overseas) inspection to be outstanding in every area, including quality of education, safeguarding, pupil welfare and academic outcomes.

BSB is a large, very popular school for children aged 3 to 18. Our curriculum is based on the English National Curriculum, and we offer a wide range of GCSEs, A levels and the International Baccalaureate Diploma, all alongside a significant enrichment programme.

Over 2000 pupils from more than 74 nationalities attend the school and over 315 staff work at BSB. We are based in three locations, two just outside the city of Barcelona – in Castelldefels, where we have a Primary, Secondary and Pre-University campus, and in the cosmopolitan town of Sitges, where we have another Primary campus. BSB City is in the heart of the city of Barcelona itself with a Foundation campus (built September 2021), and a brand-new main campus which opened in September

About the role:

We are looking to recruit a temporary full-time Teacher of French to cover a staff absence at our City campus, starting in early April 2026. The duration of the cover will stop in June 2026 (there is an option to work in July during the Summer School) and reactivated in September 2026. Given the short timeframe before the cover begins, candidates must already have the right to work in Spain.

French is a popular and valued subject at BSB and is offered at Key Stage 3, GCSE, A Level, and as part of the IB Diploma Programme.

The role will involve:

• Delivering engaging and challenging lessons to all key stages that link with the real world and which are aligned with department schemes of work.
• Assisting in the process of curriculum development and delivery of an appropriate, comprehensive, high quality curriculum program at all key stages.
• Using homework and assessments to monitor and track pupil progress. Identifying and supporting underachieving students and challenge the high achievers, implementing intervention as needed.
• Provide feedback and communicate effectively with parents, ensuring that both the student and parents are aware of student strengths and targets, across the year.
• Working collaboratively with the members of the department to ensure this thriving department continues to improve.
• Working with colleagues and members of the SLT to ensure that the school improvement plan priorities are effectively implemented.

Who we are looking for:

Ideally, candidates will have experience in a similar role, and, particularly, of teaching GCSE, A-Level, or IB Art, either in the UK or in international schools. At our school, the language of instruction is English, so a high level of fluency is essential.
