About the role:

As a Junior Backend Engineer, you play a vital role in supporting the design, development, and maintenance of scalable and high-performance backend systems that underpin fundcraft's platform. You collaborate closely with cross-functional departments, including frontend engineers, product managers, and QA, to deliver effective backend solutions that meet business objectives. Your primary focus is on hands-on development, where you contribute to ensuring the reliability, security, and maintainability of the platform while addressing technical challenges.

In this role, you actively participate in code reviews and adhere to best practices to improve code quality. You collaborate with other Junior, Mid and Senior Backend Engineers on various projects, gaining insights into architectural decisions that enhance system scalability and performance. As you continue to develop your skills, you stay current with modern technologies and frameworks, ensuring your contributions align with industry best practices.

This is a position based in Spain and reports directly to the Senior Backend Engineer in charge or to the Lead Backend Engineer.

Key responsibilities:
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of backend solutions using programming languages such as Python and SQL.
  • Support the development and optimisation of APIs to ensure high performance, scalability, and security for various frontend applications and external integrations.
  • Write unit tests and assist in integration testing to validate backend functionality and ensure code quality and reliability.
  • Maintain documentation of backend systems, APIs, and processes to facilitate knowledge sharing and ensure code maintainability.
  • Share insights and best practices with unit members, contributing to the continuous improvement of engineering processes and workflows.
  • Collaborate with frontend engineers, designers, product managers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and contribute to high-quality solutions.
