About the opportunity

Novalia Partners is a Search Fund in launch based in Barcelona
, led by
Matthieu Gonnet
, a French entrepreneur, and backed by a diverse group of 18 investor partners (funds, family offices, and entrepreneurs).

The Search Fund model involves identifying, acquiring, and managing an SME with a solid track record, typically in generational handover or continuity-seeking situations.
The objective is not a short-term investment, but to ensure the transition, consolidate the company, and boost its long-term growth, putting the experience of the partner group and the support network of the investors at the company's service.

As an intern at Novalia Partners,
you will have the opportunity to be at the heart of this process: from building the company pipeline and initial contact with owners, to strategic and financial analysis of real acquisition opportunities. This experience offers a unique immersion in the world of SME buying and selling, where you can develop key skills in investment, finance, and strategy, working closely with the entrepreneur and a group of experienced investors.

Main Missions

  • Support in building the company search process:
    identification, filtering, and prioritization of opportunities.
  • Generate a structured pipeline of companies
    and analyze the potential of each one.
  • Lead the contact process with pre-selected companies
    (letters, emails, calls, etc.).
  • Identify and develop new market access channels and dealflow generation
    (e.g., networks of lawyers, banks, financial advisors, etc.).
  • Conduct an in-depth analysis of contacted companies
    : market, competitors, financial situation, opportunities, and risks.
  • Collaborate in preparing materials for the investor group:
    company fact sheets (one-pagers), strategic profiles, presentations, etc.
  • Support in the financial valuation
    of companies by building financial models.
  • Participate in company visits and strategic meetings
    with advisors and investors.

Skills and profile sought

  • Languages:
    High level of Spanish (Catalan is a plus) and English (oral and written).
  • Education:
    Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Engineering, or similar. MBA students considering launching a Search Fund will also be valued.
  • Previous experience (valued):
    consulting, investment banking, private equity, venture capital, or auditing.
  • Technical knowledge:
    Good command of Excel and financial analysis; proficiency with PowerPoint and presentations.
  • Personal skills:
    Ability to synthesize and attention to detail, work under demanding deadlines, proactivity, and autonomy.
  • Interest in Private Equity, M&A, and entrepreneurship.
