Job Title: Senior Accounting Manager – Germany & Europe

Location: Barcelona

Reports To: European CFO

Role Purpose

The Senior Accounting Manager – Germany & Europe is a high-impact leadership role designed to strengthen hands-on accounting execution and ownership across Germany and European entities. Acting as the primary execution owner for accounting delivery, this role ensures month-end close discipline, balance sheet integrity, and readiness for ERP transition (Workday). It complements the European Financial Controller role, which focuses on ERP governance, controls, policy, and close review/sign-off.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Germany Accounting Ownership (Immediate Priority)

  2. Take full ownership of Germany's R2R outcomes (accuracy, timeliness, balance sheet integrity), even where execution is supported by external providers.

  3. Manage and hold accountable external bookkeepers (Rentrop & Partners): define deliverables, enforce documentation discipline, and drive backlog reduction.

  4. Own month-end close for Germany: checklists, reconciliations, accruals, cut-offs, and issue tracking; escalate judgment items as needed.

  5. Workday Transition Readiness (Germany)

  6. Lead finance readiness for Germany's move to Workday (target July/August): process design, data hygiene, mapping, and cutover planning.

  7. Define transition ownership model (what remains external vs moves in-house) and execute controlled migration.

  8. Partner with the European Controller on ERP governance while maintaining execution accountability.

  9. Europe Execution Leadership (Barcelona Hub)

  10. Act as the senior accounting reference point for Europe, raising execution quality and close discipline.

  11. Provide day-to-day leadership to Senior Accountant and O2C/P2P team in Barcelona, ensuring prioritization and quality control.

  12. Standardize routines: close calendars, reconciliation pack standards, and issue logs across European entities.

  13. Close Governance Interface

  14. Own execution and delivery; escalate policy/judgment items to the Controller for sign-off.

  15. Ensure all deliverables meet required standards and timelines.

  16. Stakeholder Management & Communication

  17. Provide clear weekly status reporting to CFO and Controller on Germany and key execution risks.

  18. Coordinate effectively with external providers and internal teams to resolve issues quickly and prevent recurrence.

Candidate Profile

Must-Have Experience

  • Strong hands-on accounting background (R2R) with demonstrable ownership of month-end close and balance sheet integrity.
  • Experience managing/coordinating external accountants/bookkeepers and holding them accountable to deliverables.
  • Experience operating in multi-entity environments and building structure quickly (checklists, trackers, routines).
  • Comfortable leading and coaching others; pragmatic, execution-focused leadership style.

Nice-to-Have

  • Exposure to Workday (or comparable ERP) implementations as a finance process owner or key user.
  • German language skills (helpful but not required).
  • Experience in PE-backed or fast-changing environments.
