Job Description

NYC Public Schools (NYCPS) serves one of the most linguistically diverse communities in the nation. To support effective communication between educators and families, NYCPS is developing the Hello App—a secure, cloud-hosted translation tool that enables real-time text and voice translation while maintaining strict data privacy, FERPA compliance, and cybersecurity standards.

We are seeking Language Validation Specialists who are native in Ukrainian and fluent in English to support the testing and validation of the Hello App. This role focuses on ensuring the accuracy and quality of speech-to-text, translation to English, and reverse translation back into native language – Ukrainian.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide native language voice inputs into the Hello App to support speech-to-text testing
  • Verify the accuracy of speech-to-text transcription in the target language
  • Review and validate translations from the native language into English for accuracy, meaning, and context
  • Input English text or voice and validate the accuracy of the translated output back into the native language
  • Identify and document errors, inconsistencies, or contextual issues in translations
  • Provide feedback to improve translation quality, usability, and overall system performance
  • Adhere to NYCPS data privacy, FERPA, and cybersecurity standards during all testing activities
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Native speaker of Ukrainian language and fluency (spoken and written) in English
  • Strong listening and comprehension skills across both languages
  • Ability to assess linguistic accuracy, tone, and contextual meaning
  • Attention to detail and ability to identify translation errors
  • Basic technical proficiency and comfort using digital tools and application

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with translation, interpretation, localization, or linguistic QA
  • Familiarity with speech-to-text or machine translation tools
  • Experience working in education, public sector, or multilingual community environments
