Wood is recruiting for a General & Pressure Parts Designer to join its Power & Industrial business with extensive experience in the Power Plants industry. This opportunity provides a Hybrid work attachment at Madrid offices.

Wood is recruiting for a General & Pressure Parts Designer to join its Power & Industrial, Steam Generation System (Boilers) business, global leader in the delivery of project, engineering, equipment and technical services to the energy and industrial markets.

The Role:

• 3D modelling and 2D drafting capabilities in General layout: Boiler and associated structure & platforms, ducting , piping, instrumentation & electric installation and auxiliary equipment (Pumps , Fans , Air cleaning systems , Fuel Feeding Systems , Heaters ,stack …) general arrangement drawings and limit points and battery limits situation.
• Boiler Pressure Parts geometry.
• Boiler thermal expansion, insulation and erection tolerances.
• Boiler modularization considering shipping constrains.
• Boiler manufacturability and Constructability constrain.
• Accessibility and maintenance constrain.
• Piping general arrangement
• Structure and platform arrangement
• Boiler and auxiliary equipment drawings
• Insulation and refractory general drawings
• Classified areas layout drawings
• 3D modelling and 2D drafting capabilities in basic and detailed boiler pressure parts drawings (GA, boiler banks , insulation & refractory, drums, internal transfers …) for fabrication and erection and "as-built" editions. Interference analysis and resolution. Geometric design, dimensional control, access and constructability verification in the issued drawings and the supplier's/shop drawings.

• Performs technical studies, designs, 3D models and drawings.

• Responsible of coordination with each discipline and project team to ensure the integration of boiler and auxiliary equipment general arrangement and limit points and battery limits situation.
• Assures contract specifications, applicable codes and company procedures are fulfilled.
• Ensures successful completion of the assigned deliverables according to contract requirements within the budgeted time and cost constraints of the project/proposals.
• Reports to the Section Manager any technical project/proposal difficulty and/or out of standard solution to be approved.

• Coordinates and supports the Project Engineering Manager in the technical aspects of the project.

• Advanced Vocational Training in Mechanical Design or equivalent

• More than 10 years relevant experience in Power Plant Projects
• Excellent command of Spanish language
• Basic/Intermediate English language
• Good organization, written and oral skills
• Strong command of CAD 2D/3D software: AutoCAD, SolidWorks and AVEVA E3D.
• User of NAVIS 3 D Model
• Advanced interpretation of industrial drawings and standards.
• Knowledge of metal materials, fabrication processes, and tolerances.
• Understanding of welding processes, joint types, and standardized welding symbols.
• Familiarity with applicable standards (EN, ASME, ISO).
• Ability to produce BOMs (Bills of Materials) and complete technical documentation.
• Holding a valid permit to live and work in Spain is required.
