The Role's Key Responsibilities and Tasks

At eDreams ODIGEO, we are building a personalized and intelligent travel experience for more than 20 million customers every year. We believe the future of travel lies in hyper-personalization, real-time decisioning, and AI-driven product experiences — and we're looking for an outstanding Lead Engineer to help us get there.

As a Lead Engineer in our Travel Things product area, you will guide a cross-functional team responsible for shaping and creating capabilities about how we sell and optimize products that make trips better — such as seats, bags, insurance, guarantees, car rental and private transport, and more.

You'll be at the heart of our strategy to:

• Increase conversion in our booking funnel through smarter user journeys.
• Grow revenue margin per booking by leveraging AI and machine learning to personalize the offer at every step.
• Leverage on real time data for covering the customer specific needs tailoring the offer of our products portfolio.
  
  

What You'll Be Doing:

• Lead a high-performing team of backend and frontend web engineers, fostering growth, ownership, and technical excellence.
• Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and UX designers to create, validate and deliver high-impact product features.
• Drive the adoption of machine learning models, AI systems, and personalization frameworks into customer-facing features.
• Ensure engineering quality through technical design reviews, code reviews, and setting high standards for testing and delivery.
• Measure, understand and improve the team performance constantly keeping our high-performance team standards high.
• Mentor and coach engineers, helping them grow in both their technical and leadership paths.
• Align closely with other engineering teams across the company to ensure a strong technical strategy and consistent delivery cadence.

• Proven experience as a Lead Engineer with tech leadership, ideally in B2C or product-led organizations.
• Previous knowledge or strong interest and/or hands-on experience applying machine learning or AI to product problems.
• Experience integrating ML models into production systems or working closely with data scientists is a big plus.
• Solid understanding of personalization strategies (e.g. recommendations, targeting, contextual relevance) and how they impact conversion or monetization.
• Ability to break down complex systems and make pragmatic decisions that drive business impact.
• Experience building distributed systems and REST APIs.
• A product mindset: you care deeply about solving real user problems and measuring outcomes.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills — you're comfortable driving conversations with Product, Design, Data Science and directly reporting to Directors.
• Track record of driving initiatives that had measurable impact on funnel performance or revenue KPIs.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Applied AI Tools: Demonstrated comfort using practical AI tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or other AI-powered coding assistants.
• Experimentation Mindset: Curiosity and eagerness to explore, experiment with, and integrate emerging AI-driven solutions into software development workflows.
• AI-Enhanced Problem Solving: Ability to effectively leverage AI tools to debug code, streamline development processes, and enhance productivity.
• Adaptability and Learning Agility: Enthusiastic about continuously learning and quickly adapting to new AI features and capabilities.
• Collaboration with AI: Experience or interest in collaborating closely with AI tools as "pair programmers" to complement traditional software development practices.
