The Team:

Celonis' product design is part of the Product & Engineering team; It's our mission to create exceptional enterprise software that enables businesses to optimize their processes using the Celonis Process Intelligence Platform. Our team of designers, writers and researchers collaborates closely with product management, engineering, and business experts to develop valuable and user-friendly solutions for our global clientele.

As a working student in product design focusing on Design Systems, you will be part of the Design Operations team that builds and evolves the foundations of the Celonis platform experience. Our mission is to create consistent, accessible, and scalable design foundations that empower product teams to deliver exceptional user experiences efficiently. By contributing to our system of tokens, components, interaction patterns, and design standards, you will help drive design excellence and ensure a cohesive user interface across the Celonis platform.

The Role:

This role offers a unique opportunity to learn how scalable design is built and maintained in a complex enterprise product. You'll gain experience with cross-functional collaboration, documentation best practices, and systems thinking – all while helping to define the visual and interaction patterns that shape how users experience Celonis.

As a Working Student in Product Design – Design Systems, you will play an active role in shaping the foundations of the Celonis user experience. You will contribute to the development and evolution of our design system, which ensures consistency, efficiency, and accessibility across our product suite.

You'll work alongside designers, engineers, and system leads to maintain and extend our component libraries, token architecture, and design standards. Your work will directly support product teams across Celonis, enabling them to build high-quality interfaces.

The work you'll do:

• Creating resources and documentation for designers and engineers using the latest tools ).
• Designing a motion system for Celonis product design.
• Include AI indicators in our component landscape.
• Exploring new interaction patterns for Celonis product flows.
• Refining information architecture and navigation across Celonis product surfaces.
• Refining and improving Celonis' iconography system.
• Extending the system of semantic tokens.

The qualifications you need:

You embody a 'maker' mindset, viewing the world through a systems-thinking lens and approaching challenges with a blend of technical expertise and creative insight. Your design skills are solid, and you're deeply passionate about further developing them. Your insatiable curiosity drives you to explore new technologies and adapt your designs for various platforms.
Collaboration and User-centricity is your forte. You actively engage with your team and cross-functional partners, fostering inclusivity and valuing open communication. Your humility shines through as you readily accept and offer honest feedback.

• Proficiency in Figma, including a strong understanding of its features such as components, auto-layout, and libraries.
• A keen interest in the design system community, coupled with a drive to innovate future systems, tools, and workflows.
• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Adaptability and an open-minded approach to excel in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• A deep passion for top-tier design and delivering exceptional user experiences.
• 40 hours per week, for a duration of one year, with no university enrollment required since this role is intended for recent graduates.

Nice to have:

• A basic understanding of technical constraints and how to design solutions that can be effectively engineered for a specific platform.
• Understanding of existing industry-leading design system best practices.
• Experience in leveraging and contributing to a design system, even a small one.
• Awareness about the value of driving accessible solutions at scale and advocating for inclusive experiences across platforms.
• A passion for complex data visualizations.
