Joining AXA XL as Senior Underwriter you will have the opportunity to work with a wide range of clients to provide an innovative and bespoke underwriting service. Each risk we consider is unique which means our clients and brokers should enjoy a best practice, market leading experience of working with us.  

In your underwriting role you will be responsible for writing new and renewal business for an allocated range of clients across the book, working with brokers and clients in support of the profitable growth of a portfolio in line with the agreed Business Plan, as well as developing high quality levels of relationships with brokers, clients and internal functions

This is a regulated role under the Central Bank of Ireland's Fitness and Probity regime.

What you'll be DOING

What will your essential responsibilities include?

• Reviewing submissions including policy wording, inspection reports and financial reports while conducting appropriate research to determine the degree of risk for each account. 
• Calculating appropriate risk premium by considering the risk costs inherent to the sector.   
• Accountability for underwriting results of the Construction book; contributing to overall strategy and financial planning.
• Proactively advising, assisting, servicing, and following up with clients on insurance and risk management matters to ensure satisfaction and fulfillment of their insurance requirements.
• Effective engagement with brokers, ensuring a good flow of new business, initiate opportunities for cross-selling offered products and ensuring account retention.  Upholding and enhancing AXA XL's brand in the market.
• Supporting the business planning and forecasting process; monitoring financial exposure within outlined limits; monitoring premium income to ensure it remains within set limits.
• Maintaining awareness of all claims advised

What you will BRING

We're looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:

• Engineering Degree  with proven experience of underwriting and portfolio monitoring, ideally with a proven track record of profitable underwriting in Construction line of business
• Good industry knowledge and awareness of factors affecting Spanish market. Knowledge of underwriting processes and procedures.
• Effective engage with brokers, ensuring relationship growth and a good flow of new business. Know and use selling and negotiation techniques; adapt to the client's situation, needs and behaviour.
• Analytical thinking, performing fact and data-based analyses of situations or issues.
• Motivation to grow professionally in a high-expertise team and work environment.
• Proactive attitude facing new challenges. Ability to respond to a changing environment with flexibility and innovation.
• Appreciate and propose new and creative ideas, taking practical considerations into account
• Communicate and work in Spanish and English.
