We are seeking an experienced
Senior Data Engineer
to work in Madrid. This role offers the opportunity to shape data architecture and processes within a dynamic team environment. As a senior member, you will take ownership of optimizing existing systems while driving innovation in data engineering practices. You'll collaborate closely with Data Engineers, Data Analysts, and cross-functional global teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines to process large volumes of structured and unstructured data.
  • Build and optimize data architectures on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), ensuring high performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Develop and maintain efficient SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.
  • Implement best practices for data governance, security, quality, and monitoring.
  • Work closely with data scientists and analysts to enable advanced analytics and machine learning workflows.
  • Continuously evaluate new tools and technologies to improve the efficiency of our data ecosystem.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the overall growth of the engineering team.

Requirements:

  • 6+ years of professional experience
    as a Data Engineer or in a similar role within a startup or technology company.
  • Strong programming skills in
    Python
    , with experience building production-grade code for data processing.
  • Hands-on experience with
    Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
    services such as BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, etc.
  • Advanced proficiency in
    SQL
    , with the ability to write complex queries for large datasets.
  • Experience designing and implementing scalable data pipelines using modern tools (e.g., Apache Airflow, dbt).
  • Solid understanding of database systems (relational and non-relational) and data modeling principles.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for deploying data workflows.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues in distributed systems.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (both written and verbal).
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced startup environment with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with real-time streaming technologies (e.g., Kafka, Pub/Sub).
  • Knowledge of containerization tools like Docker or Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with machine learning workflows or MLOps practices.
  • Experience with version control systems like Git.
