Freelance Business Analyst – Software – Barcelona

Day rate: £250 - £350

Duration: 10 months

Start: ASAP

My client is looking for a Mid-Level Business Analyst to support their product and engineering teams in delivering high-quality, data-driven solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and documentation skills, experience with agile delivery, and the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams using modern tools and platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Requirements Gathering & Analysis: Elicit, analyse, and document business and technical requirements through stakeholder interviews, workshops, and process analysis.
  • Documentation & Specifications: Create clear and concise documentation, including business requirements documents (BRDs), user stories, acceptance criteria, API specifications, and workflow diagrams using Confluence, JIRA, YAML, and Markdown.
  • Agile Delivery: Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Developers, and QA teams to refine backlogs, manage sprints, and ensure business value delivery in an Agile/Scrum environment.
  • Business Case Development: Develop business cases, including cost-benefit analyses, ROI assessments, and impact evaluations to support decision-making.
  • API & Data Analysis: Work with API services, Postman, and SQL to validate integrations, analyse data, and ensure alignment between business and technical requirements.
  • Cloud & Tools Integration: Support solution design and testing within Azure environments, ensuring smooth integration across platforms.
  • Collaboration: Facilitate effective communication and knowledge sharing through Confluence, ensuring documentation is accessible, accurate, and up-to-date.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 3–5 years of experience as a Business Analyst in software development or IT projects.
  • Strong knowledge of Confluence, JIRA, and agile documentation practices.
  • Demonstrated experience in business case development and requirements specification.
  • Working knowledge of API testing and documentation tools (Postman).
  • Proficiency in SQL for data validation and analysis.
  • Familiarity with Azure cloud environments.
  • Ability to create structured documentation using YAML and Markdown formats.
  • Excellent communication, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working with distributed or remote teams is a plus.

Nice to Have

  • Background in software engineering or data analysis.
  • Experience in integration projects or digital transformation initiatives.
  • Certification in Agile (Scrum/SAFe) or Business Analysis (CBAP, PMI-PBA).
