Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform independent validation of AI/ML models used in Financial Crime detection and other risk domains, assessing:
  • Conceptual soundness and model design
  • Training data representativeness and preprocessing
  • Bias and fairness testing
  • Performance robustness and stability under different scenarios
  • Interpretability and explainability of model outputs
  • Assess model drift, monitoring procedures, and performance tracking mechanisms.
  • Evaluate model documentation for completeness, reproducibility, and alignment with regulatory standards.
  • Recommend remediation steps and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Provide credible technical and regulatory challenge to second-line validation teams and model developers.
  • Support the definition of model governance frameworks and validation methodologies consistent with SCIB Model Risk standards.

Skills and Qualifications Required:

  • Academic background in risk management, compliance, data science, or engineering.
  • Proven experience in model risk management, AI governance, or model validation.
  • Familiarity with regulatory guidelines on AI/ML (e.g., EBA, ECB, PRA, EU AI Act, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of machine-learning methods, including semi-supervised and complex classification approaches.
  • Ability to articulate and defend technical reasoning clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills (English required; Spanish desirable).
  • Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience.
